I know the pitching match-up is not in our favor by any stretch but tomorrow would be a nice one to find some way to win. We then return home to play the Nats while the Philths have the Dodgers coming in. We COULD squeeze back into 1st pretty quickly.

For what? So that the Mets go 3-10 or whatever vs LA and SF the next 2 weeks?

To all the holier-than-thou and naive NY dweebs who constantly profess that the city of Philly and it’s fans are trash, classless, violent, yada yada…I thoroughly enjoy watching your fans making asses of themselves and acting like losers while visiting Philly…let me guess, Philly fans must be rubbing off on you…take your nonsense back to where you came from…haha

You should take your own advice and go back to your own thread.

No. It was mighty peaceful here for months until Yankee and Philly Fans showed up for no reason.
100%. Funny how they crawl out of the woodwork. You can't blame Mets fans for inciting this bull$hit. Just shows how much they watch the team they supposedly don't pay attention to. They will flame out again, and point to 27 rings is it? Not sure, I can't even remember the last time they won, I skipped one already, 😁

Yankee fans love ancient history. As a Met and Rutgers fan I will enjoy victories when the happen but most importantly just enjoy watching them ( or try too😎). The whole taunting thing, going on other message boards I just don’t get.

Interesting. My primary comment is - are you calling for a rebuild or not? Seems at first like you are, and then you call for the signing of high priced free agents. IMO if you're signing Bryant and Baez, then no point in trading deGrom. Or vice versa.

Some specific comments:

1) Agree that if Mets don't win the division, Rojas and his staff are gone. Could still happen even if the Mets limp into the playoffs with 85 wins, and then make an early exit.

2) This I think is the root of the problem. Alderson was supposed to be a hands off team president. He was supposed to bring in a VP of Baseball Operations, who would bring in a GM. We wound up with neither.

3) Unless deGrom comes back strong in September, not sure he brings back enough to justify a trade. Right now he's damaged goods.

4) OK so you ARE going into full rebuild mode? BTW, you only get a draft pick for Conforto if you make him a qualifying offer, which he just might sign.

5) "Sign free agents who are winners..." well that's the real trick isn't it?

6).Would be shocked if Mets sign both Marcus and Thor. Pick one. Although if they traded deGrom as you suggest, maybe then they do sign both. But they're not trading deGrom, not unless they're going into full rebuild mode, which they ain't.

7) Yeah I agree they probably resign Baez.

8) Nido may not be the answer, but he sure as hell isn't the problem either.

9) Agree Villar is gone. The other two stay. Need some inexpensive bench players. Can't pay all 26.
It’s not a 100%rebuild per se because of the proposal to sign the applicable free agents. But the farm system needs top AAA talent which doesn’t exist - hence the degrom trade and thus get value for him when you can.
If the above happened, nucleus of team is as follows:

1b - Alonso
2b - Baez
SS - Lindor
3b - Bryant
OF - Smith / Marte / TBD via trade of others.
C - MCCann

SP - Noah / Stroman / Carrasco / Megill / Walker

Stopper - Diaz / Lugo etc

Bryant improves lineup because he can hit / makes contact and is flexible. Marte steals and can manufacture runs.

Point is the team needs a massive overhaul as the current model is ineffective and has proven to be a failure from the top down to the core of the team for several years.

Why are teams trading top talent at this point if no one knows how healthy Jake is? Much rather roll the dice with him. Huge difference if you traded him before the start of this season to now. As much as I agree that we need to replenish the farm system, there is zero guarantee any we get from trading Jake would even make it to the major league level. Cohen has deep pockets, let him sign top level major league talent,

LOL. A 20 second video clip used to paint Mets fans with a broad brush. This is the part of the thread when douchy fans from other teams come to mock and belittle the Mets. Stay Philly, dude.

This lineup has way too many holes to not let Baez walk. Either that, or bat him down near the bottom where the 2-3 strike outs per game won’t matter as much.

Just say no to Davy Kingman Baez.
Last 7 Days:
28 AB, 11Ks, 5 hits, 2 walks. 0.179 BA. Please no.

Does Cano ever wear a Mets uniform again? If so{ I hate}, then what to do about Baez???

I agree about the fans from other teams all of a sudden coming into this forum just to be nads. Unfortunately IMO The 7 Line jumped the shark a few years ago. It was a cool idea in the beginning because it was something different to Mets games. Now their attitude is YOURE NOT A REAL METS FAN IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND OUR $90 A TICKET SECTION WITH OUR EXCLUSIVE TSHIRTS OR EXCLUSIVE $120 MISMATCHED ORANGE JERSEYS. In other words, they’ve become douchey. I’m not surprised. They now embarrass real Mets fans.

The 7 Line reminds me of the douchy Penn State fans that come to other stadiums and "take over" with their annoying culty chant.
But, I have to admit, when we went to watch the Mets at the Diamondbacks at Chase field, we participated in a Let's Go Mets chant that took over the stadium. Mets lost. Guess it was our Brennan has a mangina moment.

I didn’t even think about that? Talk about three trades by 2 GMs that really didn’t need to be made:
- I’ll buy the Diaz excuse but they didn’t need Cano and his giant contract since McNeil was coming off his breakout year. Any other place, McNeil would’ve been the next upcoming young star in MLB. In Queens, BVW screws him up by having McNeil play 3rd and the OF.

Look up what I said at the time of the trade that I was ok with the Lindor trade but I could’ve also lived to see if Giminez could’ve followed up on his rookie year. He had the glove and contact skills to be successful in MLB. But Honestly I thought Javy Baez was better than Lindor… Of course I was also wrong in that they should’ve signed Conforto to the long term, not Lindor but what do I know lol?

-I like Javy Baez but unless the Mets already knows that Lindor will be out for the year and will not tell us, this was a stupid trade. Needed a starter or an outfielder, not Javy Baez. Should’ve just signed him as a FA in the offseason if they really wanted him to play second (move McNeil to third) without giving up Pete Crow-Armstrong, who no doubt now will turn out to be the next Jacob deGrom in the next 10 years 😂.

This is why if there’s going to be changes, the whole entire front office must be wiped clean and new people with new ideas must be installed before any changes to the clubhouse begin. This year proved that Sandy Alderson is the most overrated GM/Front office man in sports and is more out of touch than Tony LaRussa.

Now that this board has thoughtfully shipped the entire organization and roster out to sea, an uptick in the reactionary nonsense that some would have thought impossible, the only entertainment value left here is to watch Yankee fans come over a push your so easy to find buttons. As someone who hates the Yankees, I’m surprised at how enjoyable it is to watch. It’s just too easy. This is not a die-hard board. It dies fast, loud and whining.

Philly is the only stadium I ever visited(football) that required security guards around the visiting team's family section during a pre season game at that.

The Phillies thread is a lot more tolerable than this thread.

Take that, Mets "fans" from McCann's wife:

Mets are 9-13 since Lindor went on IL on July 17. 89 Runs in 23 games, or 3.9 runs per game post all star break.

Interestingly, they were slightly worse pre all star break, with 3.8 runs/game, but the pitching ERA went from 3.43 pre-all star break to 4.67. Losing deGrom combined with Walker falling off has hurt bad. Duh.

The team has not been a good hitting team all year long.
But their batting average improved from .231 to pre all star to .247 post all star, and their slugging percentage improved from .373 to .417

People complaining about me talking about the Mets by bringing out insignificant stats? Here’s the most important stats: 2-8 last 10 games, going from 5 ahead to 1.5 behind in second, with a chance to drop to third place at the end of the day. They are in the bottom 10 (bottom third) in EVERY OFFENSIVE CATEGORY IN MLB with no relief in sight.

The Mets front office allowed this mess to continue by not address the main problems the Mets had… and they screwed up their first round draft pick, which is extremely hard to do. But yet Im not a die hard Mets fan because I’m supposed to happy with every and not talk bad about those 7 Line idiots.

Try being a fan since the Craig Swann, Doug Flynn, Pat Zachary days.

Don’t want to see anyone get hurt, but we’ll be 2-7 with him after today so I don’t think it matters much.
Baez one of the few that can hit home runs. Makes something happen when he is on base. We suck but on the list of players underperforming he is not on the top for me

Team and organization are a joke, as always. You lose DeGrom, Walker has been shit for months, Carrasco is just coming back, Megill is still unproven over any kind of relevant sample and the only thing you do to improve the pitching is Rich Hill? No bullpen help either? How overworked is Castro? All of a sudden you count on Familia as a major component of the pen?

Baez just got hurt with a different injury but he was damaged goods to begin with when The Mets traded for him. Bum foot. Ridiculous. Did they really focus on him over Bryant? Assnine, if so.

And who is this hitting coach they hired. Who the hell is Hugh Quattlebaum? The approaches are absolute garbage. No taking into account anything like game situation, runners on base, count,...just swing for the goddamn fences every single swing. Kennedy blowing Alonso and Davis away on 6 straight 93 MPH fastballs up in the zone because the idiots won't adjust anything on their ridiculous uppercut haymaker swings. Garbage.

And now I have to watch Wheeler, who the previous regime was too cheap to pay, blow us away en route to a Cy Young Award and Division Title.

Rant over. So goddamn frustrating. Division fng stinks. Acuna major injury. Division was there for the taking.
