From an organizational standpoint, this happened at the best possible time. You don't need a GM in September. There are no moves to be made. Let Theo hire his replacement.

Thumbs down to Zak Scott. What a jerk. Memo to Steve Cohen: you better hire Theo with an ownership interest and Buck or Bochy as manager. Clean this organization up from top to bottom. Long overdue.

Zach apparently got drunk at a Mets charity affair at Uncle Steve's estate.

Thankfully, Scott was not in a serious accident in which someone was injured or killed. If he had, Cohen would have been subject to civil lawsuit under NY host liability law.

If you are going to dictate to Epstein whom to hire as manager, you have zero chance of hiring Epstein.

But. An article I read just now states that the affair at Cohen's estate ended at 8:30-9pm and that Scott departed at that time. However his arrest took place at 4:30 am the following morning. That would seem to remove Cohen from any culpability as its clear he must have continued his party elsewhere and that was where he got drunk that extent. If he had gotten so drunk at the fundraiser to where he fell asleep behind the wheel at a redlight then it would have happened well before 4:30 am. Nor would he have made it from Connecticut to White Plains, NY.

This is in light of the roster limit going up to 28 (used to be 40).

ICYMI with everything else going on, yesterday the Mets also activated Guillorme from the IL, and optioned Drury to Syracuse.

No he didn't. The event ended 8 hours before this.

Also Epstein originally hired Porter and Scott for the Cubs!!

Dodgers did to the Braves what they did to us. Now they head to Colorado where the Rockies have been very good at home. Within 5 games. Could get interesting if we can continue to handle business against the Marlins and Nats. Colorado 21 games over .500 for the season at home.

Interesting. Good pick up. Hands rejected Mets to go to Nats to be their stopper. Lol
He was good with the Nats, with 21 saves before the trading deadline. The Nats sent him to the Jays as part of their July 30 fire sale. He had a very bad August and got DFA'd.

There can be nothing bad to be said about this pickup- even if he ends up sucking. It is a guy we wanted in the off season and pitched well before the trade.
