Not surprised. He is what he is. He'll hit a lot of home runs but probably will never be the type of player that will be getting MVP votes. Too easy to pitch to if you know how to follow a gameplan. Fastballs up, (especially inner half) and breaking balls down and away out of the strike zone and he's dead.
His numbers with The bases loaded are horrible. very telling

I hold no ill will towards Baez. It’s Lindor who I just can’t stomach. Did not see game. Looking forward to seeing highlights. Back it up tonight with another win. And if Atlanta loses……

Love that the Met fans showed what they are made of with thumbs up after that hustle play to win it

Learning to lay off the pitches that you can't hit is what makes a great power hitter. I have confidence that over time Alonso will make an adjustment to how the league currently pitches to him. If he learns to lay off the high fastballs and breaking balls down and out, he will become a monster. Of course we have to have competent hitting coaches. Maybe Cohen opens up his pocket book and hires Theo Epstein this offseason we will have a brighter future.

Re Epstein, I believe money will not be an object. The issue is that Epstein will no doubt demand full control, reporting directly to the boss. And by "the boss", I don't mean Alderson. Will Cohen go for that?

First of all Puck the Fillies!!!!

I’m just showing this video because this is what every major leaguer should do vs the shift. Other than that, I hope the earth sinks in under their feet.

Sandy will do the right thing and retire and or act as a consultant.
Just read an article (forget what or where) that Epstein will likely ask for an equity stake. Perhaps similar to Jeter, who was given a 4% equity stake by the Marlins.

Every major leaguer should do WHAT against the shift? Bunt as Harper did, or hit a two run homer as McCutcheon did? I assume the latter, as two run homers are preferable to bunt singles.

In the case of this specific game- both answers are correct. Bunting against it when you can’t hit a 3 run HR with no one on is smart and more guys should do it. And then if someone is on and the HR ties it, brings you within a run or wins it, you go for the fences.
I can’t stand Harper but he does things like this that I like a lot.

Give it to him. maybe not 4%, but that is up to Cohen. Epstein has brought a championship to 2 franchises that had not won in more than 70-80 years. That is an incredible proven track record. He deserves the job and Sandy should retire if Cohen has a chance to get Epstein.

Have to do what is necessary to secure a talent such as Epstein...Equity stake is expected.

Cohen bought the Mets for $2.4 billion. 4% would be $96 million. If Epstein wins the Mets win a championship then the value of the franchise may above $3 billion. Well worth the investment. He can structure the deal in a way that gives Epstein the full 4% if he wins a championship and 1-2% for signing a contract.

Simple negotiations

Yo Steve , we pay players 25,35,40 million a year
All I want is 15 per year and WHEN we win championship it goes to 20 per year. Then at the end of my tenure I would like to be named COO and buy a stake in this franchise.

Yo Theo , you had me at hello !!!

Harper bunted against the shift.

There was no shift on the home run.

Great call last night. We were in the car on the way to the kickoff celebration, and Howie Rose sounded like he was going to jump through the microphone he was so excited.

Ron directing traffic from the booth is great. Calm down Keith!!!

And great reply:
