Personally want more than that given the ridiculous boatload he makes
Not saying that is enough. With that said the contract is what it is. I’d rather him show effort then be like McNeil or Davis and sulk.

I had been advocating for Baez to return before hearing about the thumbs down thing. Let him walk and spend the money on Bryant, who I do not believe can be qualified and cost a draft pick. Let him play 3B and LF. If he plays 3B, with Lindor at short and Pete at 1B we have the potential for a powerhouse infield. Cano and McNeil can share second and then focus on trading for an outfielder. Baez can mope somewhere else.

Agree. I want Stro back but I'm not sure he wants to come back or if the team will have the cash to sign him. Cohen needs to commit to going over the cap. As far as Nimmo goes, agree completely. That's why I wanted Springer so badly in the

Not saying Baez is wrong to feel that way but alientaring the fans is one way to ensure you won’t be back, and that’s ok with me. Javy is all about Javy and he would rather look good than the team win. Just another sign that he is too mentally fragile to succeed in NY in the long run.

Mets should grow some balls and release Baez and suspend Lindor and pillar
Any disciplinary action the Mets try to impose will be unsuccessful. The MLBPA will immediately file a grievance and they will win.

Obviously they could release Baez if they chose; they aren't paying him anyway. I doubt they would do that though. I suspect that Baez' agent has already read him the riot act, and an apology will be forthcoming.

Pillar is an interesting case. He and the Mets have a mutual option for next year, meaning that either party can exercise it. I think he will try to mend fences as well.

Lindor is bulletproof. Period.

Fans should boo everyone all game tomorrow. Bunch of losers
Cohen should Fire everyone and Have new GM trade as many as you can and make a statement that this won’t happen under his ownership
And Lindor would laugh in his face. Well maybe he wouldn't, but he could.

Baez is an idiot. You never fight with your own customers.

curious what mets fan expectations are for Thor when he comes back. Guessing next year at this point.
he will be 30 and haven't played baseball in 2.5 years. Considering he had elbow inflammation after his first 2 inning rehab last week and now covid what's the point to get him back as a reliever this year??

- Very unprofessional of Lindor ,Baez and Pillar.

- Rojas has completely lost control of team.

- Maybe someone should tell Lindor and gang that you wont get booed if you play well. If you suck, you get booed.

- And Cohen and management need to stop sucking up to Lindor. This is a BIG problem and I'm sure within the clubhouse as well.

There’s a Cadre of guys on this board who used to say that this team is “special” and that there’s a good culture that should not be disturbed. Resilient is another word that popped up a lot, even though its only defining characteristic seemed to be winning after losing, something a .500 team does a lot.

I’ve never been sure that there’s much fight in this team. Now, that doesn’t matter as much as talent, which has been the real problem. But it matters some. Of course, I’d be happy to be wrong.

I was with you up until the last bullet point. Stop sucking up to Lindor? They freakin' married the guy! (In the metaphorical sense, of course.) IF they picked the wrong life partner (and I'm not saying they did or they didn't) then the damage is done. This would be one expensive divorce. Let's all hope it doesn't come to that.

That seemed to be the bench mob.
These tweets are mostly correct:

Piazza on point here:

Youre damn right I’m gonna boo multimillion dollar players, coaches and managers who don’t perform. This includes lindor, ash, flood, and others. I don’t boo RU players.
Oh, I also boo crappy bball refs🤣

On point two - agreed. If a new losing streak starts he’ll be done before the end of the year.

Stop sucking up to Lindor via:

- Force him to publicly apologize. Hopefully he's mature enough to apologize on his own. Afterall, didn't he state his offense sucked quite recently.
- If he continues to suck, bench him - something Mets have been reluctant to do. Play Villar at SS. Sick of his attitude and joking with everyone.
- Don't let Lindor have any input into Personnel Decisions - a la Baez trade. With the stupidity of what Baez did - he ain't returning next year and we can only hope PCA doesn't turn into a star.

Lindor has next year to provide optimism whether the contract is worth it. My personal opinion is he will continue to underachieve and will be an albatross on this franchise.

What can you do about Lindor's contract? Not much unfortunately but that's on Cohen and Sandy to figure out.

Still can't understand why they signed him to a mega deal with a tremendous SS Free Agent class - a la Seager / Correa / Story etc.

And Stroman goes into the predictable "Blame the Messenger" mode:

Stroman is not wrong. Without getting political. The media is highly responsible for the division and rancor in this country. Turning to sports, one reason I never listen to sports radio and shun much social media, is they love to stoke division and rancor amongst fans and between fanbases. It's great for ratings and clicks.

I hope all three of them are out of the lineup for the next game. I think this incident should make it clear to the Mets that having Baez around long term is not good even if he is good buddies with Lindor. Another deal where we gave up a prospect who may come back to haunt us as well.

The early returns is that this Lindor contract is going to be an albatross around the Mets neck. They just have to hope that he and his "Bonilla like" grin will put in the work and improve his craft. The batting averages for so many of these guys are just embarrassing this year.

No, Stroman is entirely wrong on this one IMO. Let's review:

1) Several Mets players, notably Baez, go into this thumbs down ritual when they do something good. Nobody knows what it means.

2) Baez, understandably, is asked about it at the post game interview. He says it is their way of booing the fans, to get back at the fans for booing them.

3) Reporters do their job and report it. Opinion columnists do their job and opine on it. No one is misrepresenting anything.

4) Alderson, who last I checked is not a member of the media, hits the roof. Other stuff hits the fan.

5) Stroman dismisses it all as "fake bullshit".

No Marcus, it is YOU who are the bullshitter. You are asking is to make believe we didn't see what we saw, didn't hear what we heard.

I think all parties involved need to take some of the blame. I'm not excusing the players' actions, but why are fans (& media) acting shocked by their reactions? Just because the fans buy tickets to the game and support the team doesn't give them the right to berate the players. It took Shift pointing that out to me earlier in the season. I was experiencing some health issues with my son, and the Mets were an easy target. I was selfish and didn't consider these players might have problems outside of baseball that we are not aware of. The players are like the fans, at some point, their emotions are going to boil over. And let's not forget management. They have made misstep after misstep this season. I believe that has set the stage for all that is happening right now between the players and fans.
