While I agree with the concept- my take is that deGroom was miss handled this year and certain he has 3-4 more monster years ahead of him. Even more sure of it if we ever traded him away. Pete, Lindor, Nimmo are the guys I also build around but would prefer to actually sign Baez then to go cheap and put Mauricio to 2B. Mauricio will be one of my bargaining chips. I think we live with McCann as our starter another couple of years with Alvarez heir apparent. Pitchers seem good with him behind the plate, he does throw out runners and can give you enough offense. As you state- give Conforto and Noah qualifying offers. I do sign Stroman but be smart about it. Bart, Alvarez and a couple of the pitchers are guys I am holding onto to bring up to the club. The team needs to be dismantled from top to bottom - mostly. Keep Nimmo, Alonso and Lindor. I have a bad feeling Degroms career is mostly over. All pitchers wirh the exception of Megill can go and I wouldn’t cry- megill’s got guts. Qualify Noah and Conforto and if they walk smell ya later. Try to trade McCann - eat some is the salary and let Nido catch until Alvarez is ready. Release Canó and figure out a severance package. Move Mauricio to second immediately. All the coaching staff and all of front office can go. I’m willing to go through a rebuild next year - then sign some some free agents and have them join the kids the following year.
That was the plan all along. They didn't get it done last year because... it was too hard? If at first you don't succeed...My recommendation. Bring in a top front office and let them do their job.
If you are suggesting the Peter Principle is in play here, sounds like you are blaming the person who put Rojas in his position. That person is gone. I am quite certain that his error, if you want to call it that, will be rectified soon. The Yankees knock off the team the Mets are chasing twice, and the Metropolitans fail to take advantage. Last night the Giants give the Mets five outs and Lindor & Alonzo fail to get the tying run home let alone the game winner. Its easy to blame Rojas, but to me this debacle is on the players themselves. Is this the Peter Principle in action?
Plenty of blame to go around. Rojas has been a terrible manager since he started but it was masked by some of the bench players stepping up, deGrom’s pitching, etc. The starting lineup has been atrocious but who’s decision has it been to bat Ordonez Lite 2nd and 3rd all year when it’s becoming apparent he can’t produce in NY. Similar for Conforto, who should have been batting 8th most of the year. Now he bats the league leader in strikeouts in the cleanup spot, which could work for a solid lineup, but further destroys this one. Rojas also has destroyed the bullpen until their arms fall off by not allowing starters to go into the middle of games. If you are suggesting the Peter Principle is in play here, sounds like you are blaming the person who put Rojas in his position. Alonso doesn't have a home run swing or a singles swing. He has one swing. Barring injury, that swing will make him a centimillionaire in a few years. So why should he eff with it?Watch Alonso try to play headline hero and swing for the fences rather than just a single that could win the game.
It's sad because the game has changed for the worse. All fundies have been tossed for the long ball. Btw, not all chicks dig the long ball. 😂Alonso doesn't have a home run swing or a singles swing. Asking Alonso to swing for a single is like asking him to sacrifice bunt. He doesn't know how. The folks who write his checks have never asked him to learn.
Yes, the game has changed.
I watched Willie Stargell take batting practice 100s of times, he could hit the ball 550 feet whenever he wanted. It's sad because the game has changed for the worse. All fundies have been tossed for the long ball. Btw, not all chicks dig the long ball. 😂
He is the player I wanted but apparently the price was higher than PCA. Conspiracy theory is Lindor lobbied for Baez and they wanted to keep him happy.Bryant 4 of 6 HR vs Mets
I can't speak for anyone else but I posted consistently about getting Bryant around the deadline.Wait now we wanted Bryant? I thought people said he sucked in the post season so we don’t want him. I’m so confused.

I 100% wanted KB over Baez. Didn’t really want Baez at all. But, with that said, if he is looking for a Lindor deal, you laugh and walk away. If he would accept 4-5 years in the 20-25 range per…I seriously consider it. That middle of the infield would be fun to watch and I do believe they would do very well together. We definitely disagree on Baez. I think he and Lindor when BOTH healthy will be a very formidable DP combo up the middle. He is second on the team in Hrs and RBIs I believe. Regarding having fun…..rather that hen watching Jeff and JD sulk. Having fun many times can keep a player loose. JD had zero fun at the plate with the bases loaded. 0-6 with SIX strikeouts unbelievable.
Easy answer- you smile and not worry about RF for another year.Ok, GM. What’s do You do when Conforto accepts it?
Based on how the Mets operate, it will be two more pitchers.Only 2 callups this year. 28 man roster.
Alvarez, Baty, Mauricio? I put the chances we see any of them called up at zero. Or less.Only 2 callups this year. 28 man roster.
None of the above. They're not on the 40 man.Alvarez, Baty, Mauricio? I put the chances we see any of them called up at zero. Or less.
Yep. Might make it on in the offseason if they are slated to start at AAA next season.None of the above. They're not on the 40 man.
Correct. None of the three have yet to sniff AAA. What's the rush? Besides, why start the arbitration clock now?Alvarez, Baty, Mauricio? I put the chances we see any of them called up at zero. Or less.
It's not a question of "making it" to the 40 man. It's when the Mets are REQUIRED to add them, based on how long they've been with the organization. I'm pretty sure Baty does not have to be added yet, not sure about Alvarez and Mauricio.Yep. Might make it on in the offseason if they are slated to start at AAA next season.
Players signed at age 18 or younger need to be added to their club's 40-Man roster within five seasons or they become eligible for the Rule 5 Draft. Players who signed at age 19 or older need to be protected within four seasons.
McNeil and JD Davis will not be productive players for 7-8 years. Both are bench reserves at best on any decent team with a small window / time duration of opportunity. They are limited in many aspects and both are part of the stench of this team who must be gone next year albeit neither has much value.I 100% wanted KB over Baez. Didn’t really want Baez at all. Davis/McNeil- JD needs to be a DH and McNeil needs a change of scenery- and as much as we have soured on them, both will still be very productive players somewhere else for another 7-8 years. They just can’t be the focus of your lineup.

It’s the first year McNeil has not hit. He may not be a “good” fielder but can play a ton of positions.McNeil and JD Davis will not be productive players for 7-8 years.
