Smith better against lefties as well. Yet we continue to bench him against them.

You take lt, and then get the draft pick when he signs elsewhere after next year which he will.
Except that you won't get the draft pick after next year. You only get the draft pick if you lose a player to whom you gave a QO in that same year.

For example, the Mets made Stroman a QO this year which he accepted. They can't offer him another next year. Only one per customer. If Stroman signs elsewhere next year, the Mets will receive no compensation. No QO, no draft pick.

Fast forward a year, and the same might apply to Conforto.

Well that sucks. There isn’t any way a team is going to sign Conforto long term after this year. So damned if we do and damned if we don’t. When healthy, he’s a slightly above average regular. Nothing great. Not a guy I want to build around.

But what I think could happen is that the Mets make him the qualifying offer, and then he signs for one year with someone else. Maybe someone who plays in a friendlier park for lefty power hitters.

No sane front office willl sign Conforto for more than what the qualifying offer is worth for a year.

Love Nimmo in the lead off spot. Need a selective hitter up there. Work the count then put it in play

Love me some Baez part II. Seriously the team just feeds off his energy. Sure he will have his strikeouts….everyone on this team does. Take the good w

Bases empty two outs.
Two runs.
Different sometimes.
Maybe- even a blind squirrel finds home plate sometimes? What about the Angry Squirrel?

So your plan Is another year of Conforto at a substantial salary. You must like him as a player. And I’m not sure you’re getting your draft pick. You may have just been fired from the GM job.

I hear you - but if we don’t the draft pick is gone if some crazy GM signs him. Really no win situation

Their luck caught up to them…

Their pitching couldn’t carry the horrid offense all the way through, esp with the bullpen getting blown up after getting overworked all year…

But remember this was Chilli Davis’ fault that the hitters got worse after they fired him. And also it was his fault that they messed up the trading deadline and didn’t sign up their first round pick.are

Who even are some of these clowns posting in this thread all of a sudden? Such as the one you replied to. I'm guessing they're not Mets fans that's for sure.

What would it take for you to get completely engaged again? For me they'd have to get within 4 games with a decent amount of time left in the season. If not it's all football. And it'd have to start now with a stretch of games against the Nats and Marlins following the series against SF. While the Braves get the NYY and SF at home before going West to play @Dodgers and Colorado. Colorado is very good at home. Around 20 or more games over .500

I believe they are the 0.00001% Yankees fans that didn't say to blown up their Yankees team just a few short weeks ago. THEY know who they are, lmfao. Frontrunner Central over in The Dead Zone.

Start September 4 games or fewer out. Make up one game a week until the Brave series.

In addition to Lindor, the Mets activated RHP Heath Hembree, obtained on waivers from the Reds. His numbers earlier this year were pretty good, and was even closing for awhile (8 saves in 10 tries). But he had been hit hard recently, and got himself DFA'D. Maybe change of scenery will help.

When Hembree gets into a game, he'll be the 62nd player used by the Mets this year. The MLB record is 67.

Blankenhorn and Y. Diaz yo-yoed back to Syracuse.
