There isn't a Mets fan in the house right now who doesn't have an uneasy feeling. Damn pitching coach comes out there and has him start throwing over to 1st instead of focusing on the hitter.

I haven't enjoyed a baseball game like that in years. Oh, the drama. The crowd was on their feet, and raving the whole way.
Great game no matter who you root for.

This was like a great game at the garden.
Why wouldn’t you want to play here ???
Fans on both sides going wild all game and losing their minds during the last few innings.

The downside for the Mets is that their old buddy,Adam Wainwright, has been getting his beauty rest in the Cardinals' midtown hotel.

Lindor and Baez have started to make the possibility of signing Baez next year kind of attractive.
regardless of who would end up playing 3B - Alonso Baez Lindor could be a lot of fun.
I wouldn’t be against doing that, signing Villar for another year or two and keep McNeil. Have the two of them fight it out for 3B and super utility player. Go get a slick fielding CF, tender Conforto and have Nimmo in LF. Trade Davis and Smith for prospects and maybe a pitcher.

I don't know but there was probably something going on Saturday night. Cause after Villar came in and had a talk with Walker the Yankees couldn't touch him after an adjustment was made. And that B.S about somebody just whistling to liven up the dugout was just that. A load of BS.

I went last night. It was an interminable 4+ hours for an 8.5 inning game and only survivable by how great the game itself was. Lindor is a relatively small guy, but he had nothing but lasers and moonshots for HRs. I'm glad he came out for the encore because the crowd was calling for it.

That said, on supposedly whistling to signal pitches, if it was done legally, the Mets really have no reason to beef. They can beef and I like the feistiness but, if someone was tipping pitches and the Yankees took advantage, that's part of the game.

Is legally stealing signs considered ethically OK in baseball? Or does it violate some sort of unwritten rule, like staring a millisecond too long at a home run you just hit?

Of course. Runners on second base can try to decipher the signs and signal the hitter; teams can try to determine if the pitcher is tipping his pitches; maybe sometimes the catcher isn't hiding his signals well from, say, a runner on first or third; so on.

Now, there may be in-game retaliation for the more egregious but legal ways to steal signs. For instance, if the batter is trying to sneak a peek back at the catcher's signs and the other team sees it, he can expect a fastball coming right at him.

Totally legal and part of the game, but they still couldn't win, lmfao

You are falling for the same trap as the past 5-6 years. This team is no where close to competing. They went 2-11 against the Dodgers and Giants. The run differential in those games was more than 20. They have choked against the Pirates, Nats and Marlins when it counted the most. They lack true leadership and fall apart every time in August/September. These guys maybe good people and talented on an individual level, but not winners as a team.

I really think your numbers are misleading and basically a crock. They lost one game to the Dodgers 14-4 and one to SF 8-0 which is the only reason that number in run differential is skewed. Other than that 4 of the losses to the Dodgers were by a single run. As were 3 of the losses to SF. It wasn't a matter of being overwhelmed. It was more an issue of not producing in key spots. Something that has befuddled them all season. A re-worked approach and an additional proven RBI man perhaps a Nick Castellanos, could fix that. So to say that they are nowhere close to competing when they have managed to do so for much of the season while basically piecing together starting pitching is pretty much nonsense. Probably around 3 of those games against LA/SF were good ole bullpen games.

Also missed the point of my post- I am talking about how Baez and Lindor are playing now…
And let’s also just say- the deGrom injuries are the difference between playoffs and not this year.

Classic Mets. Runner on first and third and no out. Conforto could walk to second base and stays at first. Alonso, Baez and McNeill strike out. Great stats for the year for Alonso, Baez but just not winners. Don’t bring this team back

Imagine how far ahead the Braves would be if Acuna and the pitchers weren’t hurt and Ozuna was still around.

Winning teams win more than 2 of 13 games against the best teams. Playing competitively and losing does not get me excited about the future.

Nick Costellanos is a key player for the Reds who are in playoff contention. He is hitting 315 with 28 home runs and 81 RBI’s. He signed for the next 2-3 years at $16 million per year. Reds aren’t giving him up and if they do they will want lots of top prospects along with a bunch of MLB ready players. Are you going to give up the future for him?

I'll be there Friday Night, sitting right under the Mets' radio booth. It may be a wake for both teams by that time.

The last time I went there on a Friday Night this late in the season was in 2016,when Cabrera hit a walkoff in a game voted top NL game of the season due to its back and forth nature.

Wrong again. Castellanos has an opt out at seasons end.

You are right. He does have an opt out at the end of this year. I still don't think we are 1 player away from competing. We still need to fix the rest of the outfield, need a new closer, improve the starting pitching and decide what to do with Cano and Baez.
