Why don't you go back to your own thread and worry about the faltering Philthies losing 3 of 4 at home to the Rocks. The downside for the Mets is that their old buddy,Adam Wainwright, has been getting his beauty rest in the Cardinals' midtown hotel.
Is legally stealing signs considered ethically OK in baseball? Or does it violate some sort of unwritten rule, like staring a millisecond too long at a home run you just hit?I went last night. It was an interminable 4+ hours for an 8.5 inning game and only survivable by how great the game itself was. Lindor is a relatively small guy, but he had nothing but lasers and moonshots for HRs. I'm glad he came out for the encore because the crowd was calling for it.
That said, on supposedly whistling to signal pitches, if it was done legally, the Mets really have no reason to beef. They can beef and I like the feistiness but, if someone was tipping pitches and the Yankees took advantage, that's part of the game.
Of course. Runners on second base can try to decipher the signs and signal the hitter; teams can try to determine if the pitcher is tipping his pitches; maybe sometimes the catcher isn't hiding his signals well from, say, a runner on first or third; so on.Is legally stealing signs considered ethically OK in baseball?
Totally legal and part of the game, but they still couldn't win, lmfaoIs legally stealing signs considered ethically OK in baseball? Or does it violate some sort of unwritten rule, like staring a millisecond too long at a home run you just hit?
And then he locked down and retired 16 in a row.Well, they did knock Walker around.
Lindor and Baez have started to make the possibility of signing Baez next year kind of attractive.
regardless of who would end up playing 3B - Alonso Baez Lindor could be a lot of fun.
I wouldn’t be against doing that, signing Villar for another year or two and keep McNeil. Have the two of them fight it out for 3B and super utility player. Go get a slick fielding CF, tender Conforto and have Nimmo in LF. Trade Davis and Smith for prospects and maybe a pitcher.
I really think your numbers are misleading and basically a crock. They lost one game to the Dodgers 14-4 and one to SF 8-0 which is the only reason that number in run differential is skewed. Other than that 4 of the losses to the Dodgers were by a single run. As were 3 of the losses to SF. It wasn't a matter of being overwhelmed. It was more an issue of not producing in key spots. Something that has befuddled them all season. A re-worked approach and an additional proven RBI man perhaps a Nick Castellanos, could fix that. So to say that they are nowhere close to competing when they have managed to do so for much of the season while basically piecing together starting pitching is pretty much nonsense. Probably around 3 of those games against LA/SF were good ole bullpen games. You are falling for the same trap as the past 5-6 years. This team is no where close to competing. They went 2-11 against the Dodgers and Giants. The run differential in those games was more than 20. They have choked against the Pirates, Nats and Marlins when it counted the most. They lack true leadership and fall apart every time in August/September. These guys maybe good people and talented on an individual level, but not winners as a team.
Also missed the point of my post- I am talking about how Baez and Lindor are playing now…I really think your numbers are misleading and basically a crock. Imagine how far ahead the Braves would be if Acuna and the pitchers weren’t hurt and Ozuna was still around. Also missed the point of my post- I am talking about how Baez and Lindor are playing now…
And let’s also just say- the deGrom injuries are the difference between playoffs and not this year.
Winning teams win more than 2 of 13 games against the best teams. Playing competitively and losing does not get me excited about the future.I really think your numbers are misleading and basically a crock. Nick Costellanos is a key player for the Reds who are in playoff contention. He is hitting 315 with 28 home runs and 81 RBI’s. He signed for the next 2-3 years at $16 million per year. Reds aren’t giving him up and if they do they will want lots of top prospects along with a bunch of MLB ready players. Are you going to give up the future for him?I really think your numbers are misleading and basically a crock. Wrong again. Castellanos has an opt out at seasons end.Nick Costellanos is a key player for the Reds who are in playoff contention. He is hitting 315 with 28 home runs and 81 RBI’s. You are right. He does have an opt out at the end of this year. I still don't think we are 1 player away from competing. We still need to fix the rest of the outfield, need a new closer, improve the starting pitching and decide what to do with Cano and Baez.Wrong again. Castellanos has an opt out at seasons end.
