Ricky Henderson may have been the most exciting player and game disruptor I have ever seen and it wasn’t because of the HR. Would love to see a player like him come up again. The long ball has made the game nearly unwatchable. If you want more excitement in the game, hit & run is a great way to generate excitement and help a struggling offense.
One problem I find with baseball is tradition overrules everything. If you can't adapt or adjust, you will continue to fail.
Dude was still throwing 99 in the 9th...Even Nolan would be down to 97-98 once he hit the 8th or 9thWhat a pitcher.
Nolan's delivery was hard on him. deGrom's delivery is easy and repeatable.Dude was still throwing 99 in the 9th...Even Nolan would be down to 97-98 once he hit the 8th or 9th
Humble too, and his first priority as stated in his post game is the team winning.deGrom is just amazing. I'm without words.
Very good point. I much rather would have preferred Arenado at the corner than Lindor - who looks awful. How can he just have a handful of RBI’s with Nimmo hitting ahead of him.You can make the argument that the Mets would have been better off trading for Arenado than Lindor; provided they could keep Gimenz. I think the offense between Arenado and Lindor would be a wash and a left side of Arenado and Gimenz is superior to Davis and Lindor.
I would have preferred Mets wait and see whether Lindor can handle the stress of NY and take the risk of him becoming a free agent. How many choices does he really have ? And if he went elsewhere there’s a surplus of Shortstops available - Story, Correa etc. I expect Seager to remain with Dodgers. It’s very early but $341 million for Lindor is looking kind of silly right now. .204 with 3 RBI in 14 games.
Can’t look back. And if he goes 15 wins and a sub 3.00 era this year- the first guy that doesn’t act like they would have game him away for free- gets called out.And meanwhile Matz is 4-0 and pitching like a stud for Toronto. Lol. Typical Mets story. Lol
I would have driven Matz to Toronto Let’s see where he winds up at end of year because he had had good stretches before. Can’t look back. And if he goes 15 wins and a sub 3.00 era this year- the first guy that doesn’t act like they would have game him away for free- gets called out.
Speaking of which- our neighbors to the northwest- imagine their staff if you had Lynn, Gray and Happ
Even though Gray has been out most of this year. He has kicked ass since leaving the Bronx
Couldn’t care less about this. Matz has proven time and time again that he was not mentally tough enough to do well in NY.And meanwhile Matz is 4-0 and pitching like a stud for Toronto. Lol. Typical Mets story. Lol
You do realize this Bieber, Cole, etc. will have pitched in 5 games while deGrom has only appeared in 4.The Mets are having a bad day:Bieber just passed deGrom for strikeouts, getting 4 in a row to total 52.He'll likely be at 60 or beyond by game's end.By the end of Monday's games,de Grom may be in 4th place behind Cole and Burnes as well as Bieber.
