Pete Alonso hurt. Will be reevaluated tomorrow. Left wrist/hand soreness.
In a way, these injuries maybe a blessing in disguise for the Mets. Instead of benching them to allow them to clear their minds they have minor injuries that will keep them out. Now what to do about Lindor?

Reds are leading the NL in batting avg and SLG. A lot of good it's done them.
Haters gonna find reasons to hate.
What this team has done with the IL status is simply Amazing. Have never seen a team in first place with so many unhappy fans and critics.
Rays 231
Mets 230
Mets 230
Yankees 227
Braves 227
Giants 226
Athletics 222

Hell, the Padres and Cubs are hitting 238. But to some, the Mets is the only team in baseball who is not hitting at all.

Some Khalil Lee appreciation. Hopefully, he breaks through at the plate. But his glove kept the Mets in the game last night and the previous night was fantastic.

His speed and defense will keep him in the game for a long time. How long he's able to stick with any one team will of course depend on his development as a hitter. I think it's probably inside his head right now and he's lost confidence.

True, but he is clearly not ready for MLB pitching yet. Was promoted only out of necessity. Really needs a full year at AAA.

Yet again, the Mets are in the bottom half in hitting and even deeper down when you consider OPS. It's one of those things that is just true. It's true. It has all the truey truthfulness of truth. In a year that hitting is down all around the league, the Mets are down more than most. True. Accept it.

To the extent you read this as some sort of opinionated criticism, it just reveals thast you may have an aversion to facts when it comes to teams that you root for. It is what it is, and no amount of rooting changes it. Nor does it alter the fact that this could change once the team gets healthy, but we don't know.

You have a defect in your ability to separate rooting from sensible, objective observation and discussion. Now, lots of people are here just to root and not linger on negative, but true, facts. If that's you--and it sure seems that it is--recognize it, admit it, and stop taking personally statements from those who like to have a balanced, objective discussion about the team they root for. It's a bad look everytime you run to I'mright.com to make an argument to try to dispel something that it a true fact. Just admit that you only want to root and not linger on bad facts.

Yawn.

Cut the crap. You are just trolling. You talk about being sensible and objective but then you make a big deal about being in the bottom half of the league when they are 17th which is only 1 of the midpoint and, average wise, not really different than teams just in front of them.

Dude, the Mets are 29th out of 30 in MLB in runs per game. Ruminate over that for a second. If you don't see that their offense has been bad, and bad compared to other teams, it's only because you don't want to see it. Somebody isn't a troll just because they point out that the team's offense is bad, particularly when the team's offense is objectively bad. You don't have to cut the crap. Just make sense, or just say that you don't want to get involved in--or apparently even see--a rational discussion of reality.

I don't get the infighting here...First and foremost- I don't care about the rest of the league- our hitting is killing on...Now- let me bring it into perspective as well.
The whole F-ing league sucks. I believe we have had record worsts in hitting already this year for at least 1 month. HR's are way way down.
What is there- like 6 no hitters already?
And for the last month- Met's have been without their two top guys this year in Nimmo and Davis. For the past week to two weeks- we are playing at least 3 backups in every single game.
So- the numbers also reflect so many games with mult starters out. And now with so many starters out, our bench is starting and our new bench should all be in AA.
You would also have expected that some of the guys hurt, may have started to find their stroke and that would have also helped our numbers.

With all of that- we are in first place and players are going to start coming back. No matter how bad the hitting is and if we are in first or within a game or two when we start getting guys back- I will sign up for that in a nano second. As a Met's fan- I am actually happier this year than I have been in a long time. There seems to be an "IT" factor with this team. Watch out when in full strength.

Have you ever seen the criticisms I have towards the team I root for, you irrelevant troll????? Ask anyone here if I wear orange tinted glasses????? Before I get kicked off this forum, GTF off your high horse.

Might as well say this before I get kicked off this forum: METS ARE IN FIRST PLACE BECAUSE OF PITCHING AND THEIR BENCH. Until certain free agents start hitting again, they will suck ass until they get their act together. It’s going to take a while for them to get rid of the stench from the past and it doesn’t help that Kelenic is being touted as the next Trout by MLB : com and the other crap that Sandy will make Clueless Rojas will do until Sandy blames Rojas and fires him.

Despite all that, the Mets are in First Place. Let’s hope they earn first place and stay there through the playoffs and World Series.

Until then, LETS GO METS!!!

And no one has noticed that if you take away his 3-4 day, he is 4-28 0 runs 0 RBI 0 Extra Base hits with just 1 walk

Just saying

Some off-day this, that, and th'other:
  • Rojas gave an Alonso update. The update is that there will be no update until tomorrow.
  • COVID breakout in Syracuse? Both Sam McWilliams and Stephen Tarpley have been moved to the COVID IL list. Obviously they've been in close contact with everyone who was on the team at the time, some of whom are now with the Mets. I sure wish everybody would get vaccinated.
  • On that topic - JD Davis, who is on rehab assignment in Syracuse, is not in the lineup tonight. Maybe it's a planned day off after playing two. Maybe it isn't. At any rate, Rojas will not commit to his return this weekend.
  • Thomas Szapucki has been scratched from his Syracuse start tonight. What that means, I do not know.
  • Jordan Yamamoto started last night for Syracuse, pitched two effective innings, and then was pulled. Reportedly it was a planned thing. If so, we can expect to see him start a game (or at least be the "bulk guy") this weekend against the Marlins.
  • Brandon Drury is reportedly joining the team in Miami. Whether he will be activated, I do not know.

Find the hinge and reconnect yourself. I much prefer addressing the actual point and not all this drama.

Jacob deGrom pitched against the Palm Beach Cardinals tonight and it went about as one would expect. Three innings, 41 pitches, ten batters, eight strikeouts. One batter reached base on an error. How he feels tomorrow, though, is what matters.

Let's see how the back/lat feels when he throws 6 or 7 tough MLB innings. I'm concerned that a lat or back problem, even if minor, doesn't go away that quickly, particularly if it has been bothering him (and moving) for several starts.

This season has a 2015 feel to it. Just need to keep our collective heads above water until the injured players return and the reinforcements arrive.

Here is the Mets IL lineup. It lacks only a catcher:

Nimmo LF
McNeil 2B
Alonso 1B
Conforto RF
Davis 3B
Pillar CF
Guillorme SS

BENCH: Almora, Martinez
SP: deGrom, Carrasco, Walker, Syndergaard
RP: Lugo, Hunter, Betances

Starting pitchers for the Marlins series are Stroman, TBA, and TBA. Not good when you are looking at a stretch of 17 games in a row.

Well McCann is swinging the bat like he has two broken wrists. Does that count?
