What would you say if it was Joe Girardi (who I wanted as manager), Dave Roberts, or a World Series winning manager in the same exact situation? It’s the pitching, not the manager, that has kept them over.500.

Here is something:He's done a fine job mixing and matching and holding it together. But I disagree that the division is like the NFC East where nobody finished even at .500.
Exactly the same. I look at Joe Torre's career--all of it--as the perfect example of how little a manager means. His success moved completely with the talent. And if you don't believe that, then he was a horrible manager when he was with the Mets and middling manager with the Braves and Cardinals, and fired from all three jobs. Then--out of nowhere--he transfored into a Hall of Fame manager with the Yankees, and then once again a middling to good manager with the Dodgers. Either his managing talent was bi-polar, even tri-polar, or what really mattered for each of those teams was the talent. And it's the latter. But managers make for good arguments about this or that move and this or that line-up. And there's something to that--that is, handling the staff and line-up. But it borders on inconsequential compared to the talent. Always has been that way, and it's even moreso now that much of the tactics employeed on the field are generated by the front office. What would you say if it was Joe Girardi (who I wanted as manager), Dave Roberts, or a World Series winning manager in the same exact situation?
So you’re saying Joe Torre would’ve sucked with the 2021 Mets? It would be different if the Opening Day NY Mets were just 24-20. But even I have to give Rojas some credit for keeping the Mets in first place going into MDW with a bunch of Syracuse and Brooklyn Mets. You said it yourself, Torre wouldn’t have done well with the #BenchMob playing more than they should and Luchesse lasting longer than 3 weeks without getting cut.Exactly the same. OK I was harsh about the NFC East comment. Didn’t see these stats. That’s actually pretty good. Now here’s hoping the Mets start winning games be winning teams. Here is something:
NL East W-L vs. other divisions:
NL West: 24-22 (surprising, considering NL West)
NL Central: 29-25
AL- 13-20 (Braves killed by Toronto 0-7)
While some think NL West is best, the Rockies and Diamondbacks are terrible. The last place Nationals in NL East are only 4 games under 500.
Maybe the description for the NL East is strongly mediocre? No real stinkers in the division, but any team can beat any other team except the Blue Jays own the Braves.OK I was harsh about the NFC East comment. Didn’t see these stats. There’s going to be a lot of 7 inning games pitched by deGrom, Stroman, Walker in the summer time...
In a weird sort of way, all of these postponed games may work to Mets advantage if they are played when all of the starters are back
brodie didn't hire him.
I stand correctedbrodie didn't hire him.
Alonso hasn't been out long enough to lose his timing. A stay in the minors isn't going to make much if a difference.Alonso is eligible to come off the IL tomorrow. Will he? This is from the Mets website. It clearly gives the answer - maybe?
INJURY UPDATES
1B Pete Alonso (right hand sprain)
Expected return: Late May or early June
General manager Zack Scott said the Mets are “shooting for” the final week of May for the return of Alonso, who had been playing through a sprained right hand for much of the month. Alonso has been taking indoor batting practice off a high-velocity machine, but the Mets still haven't decided if he will require a Minor League rehab assignment. (Last updated: May 28)

I’m saying that the difference would be negligible. Rojas, Torre, Miller Huggins, little difference. And the record would still be due to the pitching. Not the guy sitting on the bench, chewing seeds, who doesn’t play.So you’re saying Joe Torre would’ve sucked with the 2021 Mets? . . .
I was going to say that in some way, we are built for these 7 inning games. deGrom, Walker, Stroman..even Peterson can go 6/7 in their sleep. And agree- if they are pushed to where we have our hitters back- could be a good thing. There’s going to be a lot of 7 inning games pitched by deGrom, Stroman, Walker in the summer time...
Hopefully.
I think another rainout probably would lead to a DH tomorrow. With one game being the ESPN Sunday night special.I was going to say that in some way, we are built for these 7 inning games. deGrom, Walker, Stroman..even Peterson can go 6/7 in their sleep. Don't think there is any way we are playing today either
Probably a separate admission, 7 inning Day/ 9 inning ESPN Night DH for tomorrow.I think another rainout probably would lead to a DH tomorrow. With one game being the ESPN Sunday night special.
YesI assume taking out Walker after 5 was the plan to make sure he doesn’t reinjure himself...
