What is the exit velo on Mays' pitches? It seems opposing players are taking BP swings on Mays' pitches.
The HR was 106.8. Kelly groundout 82.5 and Pavin Smith single 99.5.

Mays' pitches have little movement and don't seem to fool anyone. The HR was 106.8. Kelly groundout 82.5 and Pavin Smith single 99.5.
Jake is better than any of the pinch-hitters the Mets have on the bench.Jake bats . Then taken out after 70 pitches
Are you are referring to Rojas' decision to pull deGrom? Clearly that decision was predetermined and he did not make it on his own.I am happy the Mets are winning these games, but somehow hey are doing it despite Rojas. He is clueless and should be fired, but wont be fired.
You can't say deGrom did not appear to be upset because he seldom shows emotions. If deGrom is a competitor, then it does impact him, but he may keep it to himself. Are you are referring to Rojas' decision to pull deGrom? Clearly that decision was predetermined and he did not make it on his own.
I have no clue whether the organization is being properly cautious with deGrom, or whether they are being overcautious. I do know that deGrom did not appear to be upset about being pulled.
Oh and one other thing. I can't speak for you, but I am absolutely certain that Luis Rojas has forgotten more about baseball than I will ever know.
I can absolutely say he did not APPEAR to be upset. What I cannot say is whether he was actually upset. Perhaps he was. Or perhaps he knew the game plan going in, and was on board with it.You can't say deGrom did not appear to be upset because he seldom shows emotions. Each level you go up in competition, the competitive juice flow more and more. Some guys are better at hiding it. Stroman and Matt Harvey were guys who wear their emotions on their chests. deGrom is more along the lines of Tom Brady of always looking cool no matter what.I can absolutely say he did not APPEAR to be upset. Not picking on you or singling you out, but will never understand the "it's never good enough" mentality of Mets fans (which is a common affliction or Rutgers football fans).I’m glad that the Mets are on their winning streak while beating up the dregs of baseball. But they have to be able to beat the ones who are likely headed to the playoffs like the Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Cubs, etc. Otherwise it’s the same old same old if they make the playoffs.
Hopefully the Mets will continue to shut everyone up in 2021.
With Loup in your earlier email, you’ve identified about half of the bullpen, thereby guaranteeing that you will be complaining about Rojas just about every night.May, Barnes, and Drew Smith should only see the mound in mop-up duty until further notice.
Being a Mets, Knicks, Giants, Rangers, and U of Miami fan does that to you. And following Rutgers for the past few years, it’s a wonder why I didn’t jump into the Hudson by now. Thankfully I was mocked by my coworkers when I started following Manchester City 2 years before they started their 5 Cups in 10 years spree. Not picking on you or singling you out, but will never understand the "it's never good enough" mentality of Mets fans (which is a common affliction or Rutgers football fans).
Yes, Mets have been playing the "dregs of baseball," but keep in mind that they have been doing it with a severely depleted team and still winning.
A quick review of their schedule shows they have done well against the Braves and they split a series with the Cardinals.
After the Diamondbacks, the Mets have 7 against the Padres with the Orioles sandwiched between, and then the Braves, and then the Yankmees. and then the Pirates, dregs of the NL Central.
The 10 games against the Padres (7) and Yankees (3), despite the latter team reeling and in a bit of tailspin should tell us something about the Mets, and hopefully more starters will be back by then.
Agreed. All those home, 7 inning DHs they will have with everyone supposedly back should be HUGE!!!!! for Los Mets.By the end of this road trip, the Mets will have played 34 games on the road and only 20 at home. With all the injuries and road games being 6 games over .500 is amazing, pardon the pun. If you pitch and play defense good things tend to happen.
I know you like to play devil's advocate, but let me clear this up for you. Drew Smith should not be up over Reid-Foley. IMO that weakens the BP. May is a good RP, but he's hit a rough patch and needs to work out some issues. With that, May should not be the 7th or 8th guy until he gets over the mental hurdle now that Lugo is back. Loup gets hated on because I was always biased to lefties who are really specialists. Those guys drive you crazy because they are not consistent and now they have to face righties is enough to give you an ulcer. Barnes is just a typical reliever who is hot one minute and a bum the next. With Loup in your earlier email, you’ve identified about half of the bullpen, thereby guaranteeing that you will be complaining about Rojas just about every night.
Met's are on schedule for 91.5 wins with a AAAA team...That should officially scare the living F out of the NL and for that matter- who ever they play in the playoffs. Even the amount of playing times these guys have gotten. When Davis, McNeil, Nimmo are back in the lineup and these guys giving them breathers and on the bench- there is just no easy way to play against this team.Mets on pace for at least 88-92 wins. The way this division is setting up I believe 85 takes it. The 2nd Wild Card looks like at least 92+ so we better win the division. That's with most of the league at 1/3 through the season already. Of course the Mets are 6-7 games behind the rest of baseball in games played.
Glad you cleared up your thoughts...makes more sense.I know you like to play devil's advocate, but let me clear this up for you. Drew Smith should not be up over Reid-Foley. IMO that weakens the BP. I agree with you but you can argue we are winning games because Perraza, Villar and Pillar are much better defenders than Davis, McNeil and Nimmo.Met's are on schedule for 91.5 wins with a AAAA team...That should officially scare the living F out of the NL and for that matter- who ever they play in the playoffs. Hey, I'm going through the typical fan issues.Glad you cleared up your thoughts...makes more sense.
And here is the really good thing- we have the chance to complain against pitchers with ERA's of 3.38, 2,77, 2.84
But...We are loving the D played by these guys and the way they are playing hard each game...If McNeil, Davis, Nimmo were your typical current MLB players just looking for launch angles I may feel different but they are 3 of our toughest old fashion type players and what they may lack in fielding, they double up on it with their hitting.I agree with you but you can argue we are winning games because Perraza, Villar and Pillar are much better defenders than Davis, McNeil and Nimmo.
I'll take a 5-4 road trip, come back 7 over .500. It's early, but they could have already been buried.By the end of this road trip, the Mets will have played 34 games on the road and only 20 at home. With all the injuries and road games being 6 games over .500 is amazing, pardon the pun. If you pitch and play defense good things tend to happen.
This has a lot of meritI agree with you but you can argue we are winning games because Perraza, Villar and Pillar are much better defenders than Davis, McNeil and Nimmo.
That's one legit fear. However I doubt Peraza stays once Guillorme is ready. He's played well and certainly contributed on both offense and defense but would seem to be the odd man outI agree with you but you can argue we are winning games because Perraza, Villar and Pillar are much better defenders than Davis, McNeil and Nimmo.
I hope not as I am not a Guillorme fan. I just don't think he brings that much to the table. McNeill's D I can live with but I have visions of JD booting the ball all over the place again. That's one legit fear. However I doubt Peraza stays once Guillorme is ready. I'm just gonna agree to disagree with that on Luis and be done with it.I hope not as I am not a Guillorme fan. I just don't think he brings that much to the table. McNeill's D I can live with but I have visions of JD booting the ball all over the place again.
You type this stuff, not me. Add the front office to your complaint list, since I'm sure they had the most input on the Reid-Foley decision.I know you like to play devil's advocate, but let me clear this up for you.
