That's one legit fear. However I doubt Peraza stays once Guillorme is ready. He's played well and certainly contributed on both offense and defense but would seem to be the odd man out
When Guillorme is ready, Tovar goes. The Guillorme or Peraza decision won't come until later, and may come down to who has options left. That is assuming Davis and McNeil ever come back.

I hope not as I am not a Guillorme fan. I just don't think he brings that much to the table. McNeill's D I can live with but I have visions of JD booting the ball all over the place again.

Agreed - forgot all about him. Villar and Peraza seem like a rich man's Guillorme.

Villar could be starting for quite a few teams in MLB...Guillorme is a perfect example of how well our bench is actually put together. He may have been our top guy off the bench last year.
Add in that besides Peraza, Villar, Pillar - we now have a couple of guys off the bench that can hit you a HR on any swing. And let's not forget that we never even got to see Martinez who is a heck of a hitter.

For today's games- want TB(of course) - Tor- so they can catch the Yanks- oh yeah- also knocks Miami, Cincy over Phily, Nats over Atl
And Stroman to throw 8 innings 2 runs or less. No need for Diaz as we have at least a 5 run lead with another HR from Pete.

Team is starting to change it’s offensive mindset. We are seeing table setters with speed. Finally bunting and stealing a few bases.

So, if I were to tell a fan that their pitcher was going to go 9 innings, give up 6 hits, 2 walks, K 12 and give up less than 2 runs...That would be considered maybe a top 5 game in a season for 90% of MLB pitchers.
To show how damn special deGrom is...over the past 4 years which amounts to 540 innings- his per 9 inning averages are just that. He actually has his ERA since 2018 now under 2...standing currently at 1.96 since he started his CY run...

Travis Blankenhorn sounds like a character in an Agatha Christie novel.

I'm calling it right now - Wilfredo Tovar clears waivers. But then, who thought Daniel Zamora would get claimed? You never know.

Now if Cameron Maybin gets claimed, we'll really have a story.

It will be interesting to see how ATL deals with Ozuna off field distraction. Hopefully we can add a few games to our lead if they start to get distracted.

I’m not sure we see Ozuna back this year. Or very little of it if German’s suspension was 81 games

Almost a fight on field. Announcers say what happened?
Announcers had no clue, as they are not there. They are broadcasting from the studio. Stroman and the last hitter he retired were the protagonists, but unclear exactly what happened.

no reason may should have been in there tonight. Why wasn't Lugo in there instead?
The answer is that the Mets did not want to immediately throw Lugo into a high leverage situation. They want to ease him in a little.

The follow up question is, OK then why didn't they use him Monday with a four run lead. I don't have an answer to that one.

Throws 101 and playing to pull with 2 strikes. I just don’t get it
I just don’t F-in get it
If you are referring to the Nick Ahmed AB in the ninth (one out, nobody on), I have no problem with the shift there. MLB hitters can pull 101. If the hitter wants to try to go the other way and take the single, let him. The single doesn't hurt you. It takes three of them to tie the score. Besides, nowadays a lot of hitters aren't capable of going the other way - at least, not on purpose. Not surprising, because they're never asked to.

So then the question becomes, do you relax the shift with two strikes? Mets are interesting in that they shift more than anybody, but unlike some teams they never alter the shift within the at bat. At least I have never seen it. Again, it comes down to is the hitter going to alter his approach with two strikes? Some may try, some won't.

What I do have a problem with is shifting when the single beats you, and then pitching outside. If the single beats you, you've got to pitch into the shift, not away from it.

Just in: Lugo back to the IL due to May Syndrome. May Syndrome is a sickness where a person can't pitch because there is no perfect situation to ease back in. A 6-2 lead wasn't the right situation and neither was a 5-4 lead. There nothing left but to pitch in the minors to stay sharp.

Signed overly cautious medical staff and management 😂 😂 😂 😂

FYI: this is how I stay sane by posting stupid stuff.

Alvarez and Baty were on display last night in Lakewood. Both homered. Show continues till Sunday. Worth a look. $$$$

exactly, it doesn't make sense. Tired of it. We should be going for a sweep and instead could lose 2 of 3.

I laughed at loud. Thx for the chuckle after that daggerous loss.
