Gotta love Keith…two insane lines already today. “Guillorme’s job is to set up the brontosauruses behind him” and “ The high fastball is like a banana split. You just can’t lay off”.🤔

I was really hoping The Yankees could help the Mets increase their lead, but my God, do the Yankees suck! I really thought they would Feast on the NL East, but getting smoked by Philly will put them at 3-5 against this division. I was hoping for a 6 game lead, we'll be lucky finishing this weekend at 4 up. With a MLB leading injury list, it's still an amazing situation. So much credit has to go to Sandy and his off season moves considering where this team was last year. Rojas, despite so much trashing in this thread, must be doing something right!!! Would you sign for Sandy/Rojas, or Boone/Cashman? I know who I want.

They broke the formula and it cost today. Tried to push Familia for 2 when he's a one inning guy. Tells me that either Diaz and/or Lugo were not available today and they thought they might need May to potentially close or they have no confidence in May right now. Either way it seems like we could use another reliable arm out there. Never want to see Bad News Barnes in a tight spot.

Lead off walk killed Familia. That, and losing Profar who seemed overmatched. Rojas stupidly let him pitch to Pham and Barnes vs. Tatis was as predictable as you could get.

I hate to question any Manager's decision to pull a starter, because I don't know how much he's got left. But I would love to have seen Rojas try to push Lucchesi through the sixth. IMO the decision to pull him was the root of the problems which followed.

Of course if Rojas had done that, and Lucchesi had gotten shelled, we'd all be killing him now for that.

As much as I would’ve wanted to see Luchessi pitch longer, Rojas made the right move. If he gives up 1 run in 5 innings, that’s a damm good plus, esp with the way Luchessi started this season. Rather pull him now instead of push my luck, kinda like with Familia today. Hopefully Luchessi keeps this going.

BTW, I would sign up going 2-1 for the series and 4-3 for the season vs one of the best teams in baseball. Have to keep the mo going vs the Cubs.

Now I understand knowing that Diaz, Lugo, Castro and Loup were all unavailable. Not to mention the bench was shorthanded without McKinney and Villar which limited your options to pull a double switch. Just need to get back on track vs the Cubs and see the Phil's get cooked out West vs the Giants and Dodgers. Lost a game to the Braves also but still have them by 5.

Knowing how short the pen was today down 5 guys you have to push Luchessi further. Overall still a great series win.

I think Lucchesi was set to face Pham, Tatis, Machado, and Myers. I think they are all righties. Plus, they would have seen him a couple of times already. No problem pulling him. Problem not pulling Familia soon enough and using Barnes at all.

If not Barnes, then who?

once we pulled Luchessi, we were stuck with who we had. As stated, very limited. I would have seen how Luchessi did with those guys before pulling him

Albert Almora continued his rehab assignment in Syracuse, playing 7 innings in CF. I'm guessing he's back by the weekend.

Jeff McNeil began his rehab assignment in Brooklyn, playing 5 innings at 2B. I'm guessing he's back sometime next week.

Dellin Betances began his rehab assignment in St. Lucie, pitching an inning. I'm guessing no one cares.

I am a Met fan but do not watch with regularity
Every time I see familia he sucks
if you lay off the low pitch he walks a lot

BTW- who are we talking about?
Ronny Mauricio. I plead guilty to starting this. I was citing an article that he was the Mets most tradable asset, and if they don't move him off SS (which they have not) it's a sign he could be moved.

He has been very good this year. When he's on, laying off his sinker is much easier said than done. It has late bite, and looks like a strike until the very last instant. Profar had a great at bat yesterday when he drew the walk. It wasn't that Familia was wild, he was throwing pitches which were supposed to draw swings and misses. That was the key to the inning, and the game.

I think I have to stop watching when he pitches

I didn't see the game only the highlights. Barnes is still a bum but he definitely should have had a strike on the 1-1 pitch to Tatis. Big, big difference between 2-1 and 1-2.
