????????
I would think there is a huge market for guys on IL
McNeil is back in a few days...JD will be back shortly and has team friendly contract as does McNeil.

Who said anything about trading them when they're on IL?

You can probably throw Nimmo into the trade mix as well.

As long as a team is wiling to trade equitable value back or Mets pick up big money contract - this is not a difficult trade to make for a SP.

Expect things to heat up in late June / July.

I doubt that JD Davis has any market value. He is essentially a DH. Only half the teams need one, and those who do already have one.

Szapucki no bueno for Syracuse tonight. Needed 97 pitches to go 4 ineffective innings. 4 runs, 5 hits, and most disturbingly, 5 walks. Gary C. had mentioned him as a possible starter for one of the games Monday, but I don't know. But then, somebody's got to.

Can they stretch Reid- Foley?

Depth is really concerning. Pray for more rain.

DeGrom should shut down for two weeks.
OK let's role play. It's the day after. You be Rojas. I'll be deGrom:

YOU: Hi Jake. Good news, all tests came back negative. So, how are you feeling?

ME: Great! No pain today. I'll monitor it, and if I continue to be pain free, I should be good to go for Monday.

YOU: Um, about that... You're not pitching Monday. You're going on the IL. We're shutting you down for two weeks.

ME: WTF! Is this doctors orders?

YOU: No. Since the doctors don't know what caused the pain, they don't know whether rest is necessary, or whether it would help at all. Or even it if does help, they have no idea how much rest is needed. Two days, two weeks, two months, who knows?

ME: So why the fvck are you shutting me down for two weeks?

YOU: Well, some guy on an internet message board thought it would be a good idea...

I think Degrom realizes he may need to be shut down for precautionary purposes. He seemed to be cognizant of this during his post game presser.

Maybe that will be the medical recommendation. My point is that it is a recommendation that none of us are qualified to make.

Not sure if DiComo and I heard the same interview. What I heard was "I think that's going to be a decision based on what we see tomorrow."

I continue to believe that if the tests come back clean, shutting deGrom down would be a VERY tough sell. And until the tests come back, any such suggestions are premature.

This is what happens when a pitcher can't use an artificial substance to jack up the ball spin rate. Over compensated and likely blew out his shoulder or elbow.

Probably will happen to many more pitchers. Great job MLB!
Go back to The Dead Zone Front Runners Thread. Total nonsense. How's that New Core Four worked out the last 4 + years buddy? LMFAO

Funny how most of the radio people and online this morning are saying that deGrom should take a break since this is the third time that he has been taken out because of injury. But I’m the idiot, smh.

There will be an MRI today. Be concerned about that, not whether amateur recommendations of rest have any value. Surgeries don’t fix shoulder injuries (rotators cuff, labrum) nearly as well as they fix elbow injuries (UCL). Pitchers rarely come back as effective. So let’s hope for a good MRI.

I'm not sure DW was calling you an idiot but was just making a general statement that includes media people in regard to the whole situation which to say the least, is puzzling.

Then, of course we have TK2 coming in again. Funny thing is, since the league has craked down on substance on the ball- we have had deGrom go 9 innings in total with 1 hit, 0 BB and 16 k...Stroman with 2 of his best games, Walker with K's up and pitching brilliant, Peterson with his best game, Luchessi pitching great While Cole has gone 19 innings to a 4+ era and K's are down. I believe just 4 in his last 8 innings....

At least the other Amigo's are still crying on their keyboards over there so they don't speak up.

My take on deGrom- skip a start. If MRI is clean, doctors say he is good, Jake feels good...I skip 1 and on his start after that- watch him very careful. I think one of Jake's issues is that he knows he is on mark to have what may be the greatest single season ever pitched, 3rd CY, the team getting him wins and if he continues this season and gets at least 25 starts like this- he has punched his ticket to the HOF. On top of that- he sees a championship team. So- he does have to consider both- the Met's, also have no one to come in to fill the spot and using an opener doesn't help either as we have to keep the BP sharp.

One of the things that is amazing with this team...the past few years, we have had an offense that ranked near the top in almost every category except men LOB. This year, (at least lately) it seems, if a man gets on base, he finds a way to score.

Nobody said you were an idiot. But most radio and online people are idiots. Personally, like Willis, I prefer to wait for the medical staff and Jake to make a decision after their evaluation. Everything else is idle speculation.

Regardless of anything else- Jake has a better grasp of his body and the ramifications, short and long term, of any decision.
I dare say, he has more to lose than anyone. I don’t believe he would pitch if he had any doubts at all. He has a monster extension coming soon.
