McNeil activated, Gsellman to IL, Tarpley 27th man. So for today at least Mets will carry a 5 man bench and 14 pitchers. Will be interesting to see whether they send Tarpley back down, or demote a position player.

All week long I am screaming “ Sit Jake”. Now he comes out throwing 100MPH like it is nothing. G.O.A.T

“I aggravated the shoulder on the swing last start.’ I mean we need his RBIs, but DH please.

Imagine if deGrom was healthy this year. How crazy a pitcher with less than 100 inning can throw shutout ball for 5 innings and only see his era drop .04

Does anyone follow the power rankings week to week? CBS Sports talked about the NL East, and their belief is the Mets will not run away with the east because the rest of the division has underperformed. I think the writer ignores the fact the Mets have played the majority of the season with backups and castoffs, and somehow they are still in first. What do you really think will happen when the starters get back and hit to support this pitching staff? They are likely to run away from the pack.

Atlanta: great offense, bad bullpen, and OK starting pitching.

Washington: good offense, questionable starting pitching, and overachieving right now.

Philadelphia: inconsistent offense, pitching is questionable from starters to the bullpen. Wheeler being the exception.

Miami: always have young arms, but over 162 games, the youth shows its shortcomings. Streaky offense.

NL East: All Mets? Four-team race? Five?!

The Mets have the biggest lead in the league, but are they really going to run away and hide from the field here? I don't think they will. The Braves have badly underachieved but have plenty of talent. The Phillies are so hot and cold that if they hang around until September, one last hot streak could be enough to win it. The Nationals are on fire right now and can't be counted out. The Marlins have a positive run differential and have shown flashes of being contenders. The odds of all five teams being in contention heading to the last month of the season are pretty bad, but we can dream, right?

I agree with the writer. I think the pitching staff will come back to earth. Certainly deGrom cannot be expected to maintain his unworldly pace. Stroman, Walker, and (in general) the bullpen have also over performed. Be prepared for some reversion to the mean.

The one clear COVID advantage for us was no fans, since that's even on both teams, whereas, with full stadiums, we're at a decided disadvantage vs most B1G teams.

I fall more in with cuff
I get that the pitching may not or most likely don’t pitch like this all year. But they are pitching to a 3.1 ish era- worst you would expect would be to give up an additional 1/2 a run per game. Let’s call it 3.6ish the rest of the way.
we have been without McNeil, Davis, Nimmo, Conforto for most of the year. They should account for at least that 1/2 run a game.

We really need some more arms. Expect a busy month and a half from the front office.

Lucchesi TJ.
Gsellman torn lat out 6-8 weeks.
Familia hip impingement.
