You know McNeil played at Citi Field last night right?

Damm… You’re Right. 🤦🏻♂️You know McNeil played at Citi Field last night right?
Have to think Tyler Megill is definitely coming up in next week.
Almora is batting .097 with 32 plate appearances. Mason Williams, not great either, was batting .212 with 33 AB, yet he was DFA'd. Almora has options and should have never been activated to the big league roster after his injury.Almora no mora please
But Almora wasn't hitting before his injury. In fact, he's never really hit on the big league level. In Almora’s defense, nobody else can hit either
Yes, and one of them broke up the no-no.I’m not watching but looking at the box score- did we really use 2 pitchers to PH???
I think you will get your wish tomorrow.Time to say bye to Almora, he can't hit.
Short bench tonight. We assume Villar and Nido are unavailable.I’m not watching but looking at the box score- did we really use 2 pitchers to PH???
Could they do any worse than the bums that are paid to hit? How many times shut out in the last 2 weeks now.I’m not watching but looking at the box score- did we really use 2 pitchers to PH???
Four times in the last eight games. Would have been five, except for one game when Peraza hit a meaningless HR in the final inning to cut a 6-0 deficit to 6-2.Could they do any worse than the bums that are paid to hit? How many times shut out in the last 2 weeks now.
And out the door goes all the over-the-top love previously expressed for the backups who can't really hit and are backups for a reason. Now if the rest of the starters come back and they're still not hitting, along with Lindor, who just toys with putting it together but then takes steps back, this place will hit the roof..
Part of the problem with Rojas as the manager is he wasn't the first choice of the Mets. There is some fear from fans with a guy still learning on the job. It's not a great combination as this team is expected to compete for the playoffs but lacks an experienced leader. Can you imagine the hate this team would have if they weren’t in first place by 4 games in mid June with 3/4 of the team injured???
Imagine all the love this team would get if Joe Girardi was the manager of a team with 3/4 of the team on the IL instead of Luis Rojas?
Of course the Mets can still have a total collapse and be out of the playoff race by August. But I’m not going to blow a gasket other than for the training/ medical staff and voodoo practitioners.
Girardi unimpressive and was a total asshat last night. Glad Mets passed.Part of the problem with Rojas as the manager is he wasn't the first choice of the Mets. Never been a Girardi fan.Girardi unimpressive and was a total asshat last night. Glad Mets passed.
I'm not big on Girardi since he had several stacked teams with the Yankees and have little to show for it. He should have have at least 2 WS championships.Girardi unimpressive and was a total asshat last night. Glad Mets passed.
Peraza is a backup for a reason. Nimmo needs to be near the top of the lineup simply because he can get on base. I'm not a fan of batting your best power threat 2nd. I love Villar, but he's more miss than hit to get on base. Leave Villar at 3B so McNeil can play his more natural position at 2B.On the bright side the pitching only made one mistake for the 3 run hr but was solid otherwise even with Stroman leaving early. Its the hitting that has killed us since the last Cub game. We should be winning when only allowing three runs with our offense on paper but one run suddenly looks insurmountable.
The hitting has been a problem all season. Dom and Pete are underperforming in the middle and Lindor just can't seem to get untracked. I expected more from McCann than the double play machine he seems to have evolved into.
Just to switch things up my proposed lineup:
1. Nimmo CF
2. Pete 1b
3. Lindor SS
4. Dom Lf
5. Conforto RF
6. McCann C
7. McNeil 3B
8. Peraza 2b
If Villar is healthy I would go:
1. Villar 3B
2. Nimmo CF
3. Lindor SS
4. Pete 1b
5. Conforto RF
6. Smith LF
7. McCann C
8. McNeil 2B
With Conforto back you could also put Pete back in the 2 hole and move Nimmo down to 8 moving Conforto and Smith up. I like Villar in the lineup at the top because as we saw in Monday's first game he can manufacture a run for you when the opportunity arises. Until these guys start hitting to their career numbers we have to figure out ways to score without a ton of HR's.
Peraza was only in there due to Villar being hurt. Look at the other lineup. Pete's best numbers arguably came when he was hitting second.Peraza is a backup for a reason. Big NO to the best pure hitter batting 8. MCNeil is a 2 hitter. If Nimmo is back, rather go Nimmo, McNeil, Lindor and Villar in the 7/8 spot. 8th would be my preferred spot. Gets on, steals a base or bunted over by pitcher and top of order gets to score him with a single.Peraza was only in there due to Villar being hurt. Look at the other lineup. Our best pure hitter has not hit all season. Even before he got hurt did he look like the Jeff McNeill of the past few years. Let him hit his way up the lineup.Big NO to the best pure hitter batting 8. MCNeil is a 2 hitter.
