We salute today's heroes:

Taijuan Walker
Seth Lugo
Drew Smith
Adam Ottavino
Edwin Diaz

Contrary to popular belief, they do not read this board, and therefore are not inspired by the "toughlove" shown herein.😏

In the post game, Buck did not sound optimistic about Dom Smith's ankle.

The 27th man for Game 2 has not yet been announced. I assume it's a relief pitcher. We may see him.

I'm calling it now. Dom to the 10 day IL. Calls for Vientos increase. Mets recall Daniel Palka or Travis Blankenhorn and slot them into the left-handed half of the dh platoon.

…and Davis with the scoop.

Keep letting a 209 hitter with ZERO home runs swing from his heels every pitch.
Keep the bent knee with a pigeon toed front foot cause it’s working so well for you !!!

Horrible job by the home plate ump, ejecting a player while he's walking away and not showing up the ump at all.

Our hitters have performed in this doubleheader as if they think it's the all-star break already. And it could cost us a game against a vastly inferior opponent.

That's a boatload of cash he turned down. Makes you wonder just how much he expects. Or it could just be he wants out of DC no matter what.
It's really not that much for a player like him, also it included a bunch of deferred money.

I have seen the Eric Gregg playoff video
The umps are so much better today at balls and strikes. Eric Gregg was absurd but he wasn’t alone. The umps just took the strike zone and ran with it however they wanted. Now they’re being evaluated on it every day, and they’ve gotten better. They know that they can’t even widen their strike zone in a blowout because their stats will be their stats. But you have an electronically generated strike zone sitting right there in front of you on your TV screen and, understandably, you react when calls go against you. Maybe you want an electronic strike zone to be implemented. Sure, go right ahead. But make no mistake. Balls and strikes are being called better than ever.

The problem with the electronic strike zone is the high strike. The width of the plate is fixed. Therefore, the robot umps are pretty much perfect at calling pitches on or off the corners. However, the top and bottom of the zone (particularly the top) can change from hitter to hitter. Haven't perfected that yet.

This game is all on Buck. Where is Hunter? Why is he giving this one up?
It worked out, but I agree with you.

My guess is that as long as the lead was only one run, he wanted to stay with his "innings guy". However, when he got that all important second run, then I thought he'd go with his closer for the evening. Whoever that was.

EDIT: In the presser, when asked about Hunter and Rodriguez, he said "somebody's got to pitch tomorrow".

Still with you. Not with Buck. Had Fri off and then big break. Worked out though so I'll roll with it.
