It's not all the ump. You must have forgotten he was very good for us last year. Besides the Cubs have had some issues with the ump also. Ask David Ross. Have to reach him in the clubhouse though.
No pitcher ever is. They don't seem to mind it though when the shift saves them runs, as it does more often than not.

Stroman got far more calls than Walker. Nimmo's called third strike was as bad as it gets. Missing a few calls can be the difference in the game. Overall, the umpires are far worse than ever.
Lindor saves a run with that fake out when the pick off attempt went to CF, keeping the runner at second.

Oh no, not even close to a decade or so ago before every game was reviewed. Back then, you never saw the high strike called. Now you do, which is a good thing.
Not saying the umpiring is good. Clearly it isn't. If it were, pitch framing would not be a thing. Just saying it's less bad.
I blame the ump for establishing a bad strike zone, therefore the impact is felt by all. A bad call changes the AB.
The problem with umps today is how inconsistent they are from pitch to pitch. I don't have a problem with a high strike. I have a problem with it being on one pitch and not the next.

Fly balls are not the way to go today. The ball that Nimmo hit was every bit as well-struck as the recent home runs he hit. I think we could even survive a Drew Smith inning in this one. But we already know the Braves are gonna win their game today before its even far into it. They look unstoppable. Against teams like the Nats anyway.
