Well done! Seven out of eight. The only one on your list who did not get a Gold Glove as a Met is Olerud, although he did win three in his career.

Three to go. Hints:

One has a Met WS championship ring.

One is the most recent Met to do it.

The last one (the toughest IMO) is from the dark ages post-Seaver and pre-Gooden.

I’ll take a guess
Bud Harrelson?
Juan Lagares?

Correct on both! Harrelson won in 1971. Lagares won in 2014. Back then Lagares was an insanely good CF. Then the injuries struck and he became just another guy.

One to go. Hint: he is associated with Tom Seaver.

Until the hint I was going to say maybe another pitcher. (Mike Hampton) but not associated with Seaver.

I was so sure Olerud got one with the Mets, guess not.

Thought about your hint.
Wasn’t Pay Zachery
Wasn’t Steve Henderson
Wasn’t Dan Norman
Has to be Doug Flynn

Doug Flynn???

I remember him having a great glove but always batted 178 or whatever.

has nothing to do with the GG if they qualify for it. Paul Blair was far from a good hitter. and may have been a very bad hitter
I know that. Was just saying that as great of glove he was, he couldn’t hit like some middlefielders back then.

Fun Fact about Paul Blair. He is the very first "one who got away". In 1962, 18 year old Paul Blair was signed by the Mets and played for a Mets affiliate in the low minors. Back then there was something called the "first year draft". The Mets did not protect Blair and the Orioles drafted him. He would have looked good in a Mets uniform.

I know if I’m the Cubs, I wouldn’t be looking forward to facing T Walker and knowing game two is Mad Max…

to even out my post…today I am sure Cubs will hit well today!

Double header sucks, might prevent Marte from playing both games .
Marte if only playing one will be saved for LHP in second game.

Most likely Load up on lefties v Stro. Zeke, Dom, and jankowski in game 1

Nido JD marte Canha all in lineup for game 2

Talk about a long leash. That means that not only did the manager leave him in after giving up 2 hr's but also to load the bases after that. Crazy. Sometimes your closer doesn't have it and needs to be pulled too.

Soto is on block , you have to at least make the call and Alvarez will be key negotiating piece. This is a top 5-10 hitter in the league guy.

Peterson
Baty
Mauricio
Szpucki
Dom
JD
Money

With all due respect it would take more than that. Better to try to wait until his free agency when some of the Mets over 30 players such as Canha, Escobar, McCann are coming off the books. Maybe even Marte depending on how long his deal is.

They are going to want the entire farm and $. No way they want Dom, JD etc. they’ll definitely want Alvarez and others…and for Soto, I’d do it.

Baty/Alveraz/Peterson- either JD or Dom and cash.
I would do it our as mentioned above- wait on his FA and sign him then.
best case, if we don’t get him is for the Yankees to. No way they would sign both as FA’s so either Judge would be available next year or Soto in a couple of years.
as long as the Braves don’t trade for him.

If we draft Daniel Susac tomorrow maybe.

Reportedly Soto turned down 15 years, $440 million. Nats still have two years of team control after this one. They can take their time. If Mets want to acquire him now, they will have to overpay.

Megadeals of non-rental superstars are rarely done at the deadline. I think this is an offseason trade if it happens at all.

Maybe Soto just wants out. DC trashed the team around by trading everyone. They are going nowhere soon.
Or maybe Soto believes that he can do better than 15 years $440 mill. In terms of average annual value, that would only rank 20th.

Soto is being represented by Scott Boras Corporation. Seems like a lot of high flyers use Boras, no? There is a reason for that. That reason is that if you want to maximize every dollar, he's the best there is. Conforto notwithstanding.

Just wanted to say that the position player I always associate with Tom Seaver is Ken Boswell, who seemed always to pinch-hit for him and was surprisingly successful in that role.

This umpire
Cant See Fran Healy GIF by Travis

This is getting to angel Hernandez Eric Gregg level

1st 2 to Zeke not strikes

Called a strike a ball and then called a higher pitch a strike

For all the talk about how we were gonna smash Stro today I see a pitcher's duel type of game today. He has his good sinking stuff today and the ump has been rather inconsistent.
