You have to be proactive when you know there are so many teams that would like to make upgrades due to the expanded playoffs. We need to strike also.
IDK. This has the feel of a George Steinbrenner trade. My guess is that KC had made specific demands as to who they wanted, and the Yanks were balking. Then after these two days of offensive futility, the word suddenly came down from on high, "Get it done - give them what they want!"
The guys they gave up aren't the names I've heard mentioned. Not that I follow the Yankees but the NJ.com advanced media is always devoting a lot of time to them and what they should do and who is trade bait. And the name I heard most often was a SS named Peraza because their top prospect is supposed to be a SS named Volpe. But they didn't even give the guy Peraza up. I know nothing of the 3 guys they dealt to KC.
Volpe is playing this year in Somerset. I have been to 4 games this year and have seen him hit 3 homeruns. He hit a homer in the bottom of the 9th inning of the last game of the 1st half of the season to give the Patriots the 1st half title and get them into the playoffs. Very good fielder also.
Wouldn't it be something if we were to roll the dice with Vientos as our right-handed DH and be able to hold on to him Alvarez, Baty and Ramirez.
It would take 16 seconds for this board to complain about how often he strikes out.
He had some pretty filthy stuff tonight. He did, however, throw one meatball over the middle to Judge—either a slider that didn’t slide or a fastball that didn’t fast. But Judge missed it and then Lugo got nasty again. Excellent outing.
I went to both games and whatta a lot of fun !
Nothing better than watching Yankee fans depressed after games and getting abused as well !
A few observations on Subway Series:
1. I thought crowd on Tuesday was more electric and I felt more tension during the Tuesday game.
2. Give me Mancini ; Contreras and Robertson and I love our chances.
3. Peterson was shi**ing in his pants from the first pitch. I felt terrible for Max not getting the win
4. Terrific series for Lindor; Marte; Pete and Escobar.
5 .Nimmo and Canha need to wake up
6. I thought Walker and Max had ok stuff and both ended up pitching quite well.
7. Bullpen did terrific job
8. Crowds were very well behaved for both games.
9. I hope we can fleece the Orioles and Cubs the way Yankees did on Benenteni deal.
10. I find it interesting how Yankees waited until end of Subway Series Sweep to announce Benentendi trade. Take away attention from getting swept
