Can’t believe Diaz gave up a hit.Lol it seems like forever the last time anyone did get a hit much less, make contact. But 4 outs- 4 K’s

Could use 8 from MaxOnly negative is both Ottavino and Diaz might be unavailable for tomorrow. Otto for sure
Sitting on it now! Great great gameHope you stayed for the 11:20.
Three innings, zero runs, two hits, one walk. A cumulative WHIP of 1.00. What more do you want? Please get help for the bullpen. The current cast makes me nervous every time any of them pitch. Nothing is ever easy.
The numbers look great, but anyone watching knows it's never easy for Ottavino. A stress-free inning is better than innings where the guy's pitch count is up, and there's a threat of giving up runs. There is always base traffic with Ottavino, and why does he have to work extra hard like Hoodini to get out of jams? There is a reason why Buck went to Diaz instead of allowing Ottavino the opportunity to finish what he started.Three innings, zero runs, two hits, one walk. A cumulative WHIP of 1.00. Not true. Ottavino's WHIP this year is 0.955. Less than one baserunner per inning. The MLB average this year is 1.273. (Which BTW is the lowest it's been in a LONG time. 2022 = Year of the Pitcher). There is always base traffic with Ottavino
I can make Noah Vedral numbers look great too. He has led Rutgers for the last two years, and we watched Rutgers improve. Vedral looked great against Michigan St at MSU and against Michigan both years. Vedral completes 60% of his passes and doesn't turn the ball over. Yet few Rutgers fans believe he is the one to get us over the top. Ottavino is a similar case. People complain about Lindor not performing up to his contract, but you have to be blind not to see he's ten times better this year. It's all about perception. We see what we want to see.Not true. This is a bad take. There are RPs that aren't closers that are having great years. A lot of them could be closers.I can make Noah Vedral numbers look great too. If Ottavino were as good as you claim, he would either be a starter or a closer. There is a reason why relievers bounce around from team to team.
Not a bad take. It's just my opinion. It's nothing different than most fans thinking Vedral is fine as our QB. On the surface, everything looks great with Vedral, but you're waiting for that WTF moment deep down. Ottavino gives off that same vibe. I must walk away from the TV whenever Ottavino comes in a game to pitch. He's going to give me an ulcer. Ottavino is the first person to make me nervous, and I've been around some bad players in all sports. This is a bad take. There are RPs that aren't closers that are having great years. Ottavino is having a fine year. We still need an 8th inning guy but Ottavino as your 7th inning setup is doing exactly what you want.
It is a bad take. There are 2 separate points. You said if he was good he'd be a SP or CL and that is the really bad take. You're basically saying that a pitcher can't be good if they're not in either of those roles which is nonsense. Not a bad take. It's just my opinion. There is no such thing as easy when you are facing professional ball players. The really great ones sometimes make it look easy, but I assure you it's not. Some of the analysis here (not necessarily this post but in general) is really a head scratcher. The Mets just beat one of the 4 best teams in baseball. Enjoy it. I sure as hell did. Great game. The numbers look great, but anyone watching knows it's never easy for Ottavino. Yes both are pitching today. Game is at 12.Jacob throwing to Alvarez today, believe May to throw also.
You keep saying it's a bad take, but it's not. It's just a difference of opinion. It's like looking at the same picture but seeing it differently. I may not be a baseball savant like you, but I understand how athlete performance means everything. Ottavino's career stats tell you more about who he is than his success this year. And what's telling is a player seldom asks a manager not to play him as Ottavino did earlier this year. I have respect for May, even when things are not going great, he wants the ball. This is why I'm nervous when Ottavino comes in. I can't trust or have faith in Ottavino. It is a bad take. There are 2 separate points. As for Ottavino specifically you can get nervous as much as you want but going by the numbers up until this point he's having a good year. Can he blow up in the next few months? Sure of course he can. Can he blow games here and there? Yes as no RP is perfect. I agree you don't want to force Ottavino into the 8th inning role often but there's a difference between saying that and saying he's not been good up until this point.

What I should say is relief specialists are overrated and overvalued. There was a time when starters would enter games in relief on their off days. Managers back then didn't have a lot of faith in relievers for a reason. I think the mental makeup of starters and closers differs from middle relievers.I'm not a baseball savant.
You don't understand what I'm saying is a bad take. You said that if a pitcher is not a SP or a CL then he can't be good. That line is the bad take.
I'm somewhat with you on the second point of Ottavino. Ottavino has had a pretty solid career for himself. I already I agree he shouldnt be our 8th inning guy but he's being pressed into that role now because our pen stinks. May shouldn't be either. Eppler absolutely needs to go out and get a real 8th inning setup guy to Diaz.
Keep him in the minors. Thankfully, we have Ottavino, Smith, and Lugo to get us through. 😜deGrom getting roughed up. 2 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K. Hopefully just a bad inning and nothing hurting.
Mayer has him 95-98. Post game comments will mean the most. I won't even feel like he's back and healthy until he starts like 4 or 5 games at the major league level.

My post above was facetious. It will take him a while to resume form (assuming he will resume form). Maybe he will never be the same. Time will tell.Mayer has him 95-98. Any word on his velocity?
Lee should have jumped for that ball!!! 😜
Jake really doesn't want to come back to the Mets loldeGrom getting roughed up. 2 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K. Hopefully just a bad inning and nothing hurting.
