Don't forget that they signed him off the scrap heap this winter on a prove it deal and now they turned it into a SP prospect, which has been what they have been doing with this re-build: emphasizing young starting pitching prospects.

Mychal Givens, who is 32, had a 2.66 ERA and 1.254 WHIP in 40 appearances covering 40⅔ innings for the Cubs this year. His sidearm/submarine style was generally quite effective and he has not allowed an earned run over his last 16 appearances dating back to mid-June, with 20 strikeouts over those 16 outings.
He was good and had a good demeanor on the mound. I never worried about him when he was in there. Now did he get as many opportunities as he could have since we are re-building and suck balls? The Mets didn't go the sexy trade route this year, but I think you guys did well and addressed needs. Plus it helps to add a Cy Young arm at the trade deadline. Wish you well the rest of the way. Now, let me get back to scouring minor league reports for hope.
Jacob DeGrom. If Max and Jacob are healthy and right going into the playoffs, you guys can beat anyone. Playoffs are a whole different season.

Anyone else both excited and nervous/apprehensive about the Jake return tonight? The hype has been major and a lot of expectations are being helped upon his shoulders. I will feel much more relaxed once I see 4-5 starts with a sub 2.00 era and no physical issues for the month of August.
