I liked the optimistic Knight Shift better.
Knight Shift still thinks Kyle Flood was great as a Head Coach at Rutgers so his talent evaluation skills are suspect at best. Mets didn't hit a home run at the trading deadline but did get nice needed pieces. Too many players for Ruf? I don't think so. You go for this year and sometimes overpay. As long as none of the prospects becomes a future All Star it is a good move.

So- Met's did not make the sexy trades...but, we had a very solid team in the first place and a great top 5 or 6 in the minors.
We left the trading deadline stronger and kept our ML intact.
deGrom is starting tonight and May/MeGill are back right behind him. We did get a very solid RP who may even be able to be the 8th inning guy. Our DH position is in much better shape. We just don't have a hitting Catcher- but why does it seem that our Catchers actually show up when needed.

IF...deGrom/May/Megill come back strong- we still have a great team and built for the playoffs and didn't rape the minors.

BTW the price tag for Givens was a 22 year old low-A reliever named Saul Gonzalez. His numbers are very impressive: 6'7" 288 lb. That's about all I got on him.

I know lefty specialists are a thing of the past with the 3 batter rule but only having Joely and Peterson as options is a pretty big hole in the roster.

Why hilarious? Lots of teams fail. 12 teams make the playoffs, and (depending on your definition) 11 of them will fail.

The Padres had the wherewithal to go all in, which they did. I respect that, win or lose.
Because their fans on social media are a bit too cocky, thinking they are going to win the division or the NL pennant. Maybe, maybe not. Love to see teams with cocky fanbases lose. See the other team in NY.

Needless to say a loss would be inexcusable after they just traded away their top 2 players, and our ace returned for the first time in ages.

You mean to tell me the Mets didn't have any other pitcher to put out there other than Nosesek?

Nogosek picked a bad time to have his only bad outing of the season, given that the Mets will be sending down two pitchers to make room for Givens and May.

If you're a fringe player in that position, you want to make their decision tough. Nogosek did not.

Could get ugly here
Robertson to Phillies for a bag of d____ks
First reliever in after deadline gets pounded

2nd biggest story in MLB today after the Soto trade was the deGrom return. What an embarrassment it would be on that day to lose to a AAA team. Well they do have some major leaguers so maybe an expansion team playing their first game ever.
