And Nido has to stop with being such a good guy checking on the guy sliding into home. The pitcher backed up his misplayed ball and was trying to toss it to him in case the runner missed home plate, but Nido was busy dusting him off.
With the free runner rule, that's a really tough call. In the before times, tie game in the ninth at home, you use your closer. Now do you save him for the tenth (maybe?). I think you do, but could go either way on it.

Mets missed 2 HR by feet and guy made perfect throw.
That being said I agree with the free runner , using Diaz to K hitters to get out of inning and giving lesser reliever a clean start. It was a 50 foot jam job that got runner to 3rd for sac fly

My point on McCann is he has been injured most of the season. His first game back you and others freak out on 3 wild pitches. Let's see how he plays if he stays healthy.
If Nido wants to be the Phillies trainer and check on their players mid play on plays at the plate, he should take off his Mets gear. Be a catcher first and finish plays.

Didn't understand Marte going on such a shallow fly ball. Not sure if it was his own decision or Cora sent but didn't like it. Everything else was fine. Just take the next 2.
Maybe because the Phil’s are not known for defense…if the throw is one hop or just a foot more to the 1B side and he is in.
I would have liked to see Nido pick up the throw from Marte but it was a tough bounce- but if he got it, runner out.
Losing McNeil/Escobar was huge in late innings.

Very depressing night. Between Zach Wilson injury / injuries to McNeil and Escobar / Mets losing to Phillies and losing a terrific outing from Scherzer has me down tonight. I ll be at game tomorrow which we need to win especially with Wheeler going on Sunday and a very rough stretch ahead. Presuming McNeil and Escobar to IL, bring up Baty and Vientos.
It was super shallow. I don't mind challenging the OF but that was not the time to do so.

Let's say Marte holds up. There are now two outs. What's the probability of scoring that run now, with Canha up against a tough righty? Maybe 30%? I had absolutely no problem with the send there.

I did not see the game; only saw highlights after game ended but what the hell was Mc Neil doing / thinking when he got hurt. Why did he like slide when there was no need to do so and in turn getting his finger mangled.
Bring up Baty and Vientos to replace Mc Neil and /or Escobar who I fear are both headed for IL.
Not sure about Escobar but sounds like McNeil cut his finger. They almost hoped he may stay in the game. I don’t believe that is going to be an IL stay.

There are 2 or 3 guys that are just out of control during games or immediately after a loss.
1. Don’t mind the Marte send. Throw up the line, a one hopper that can’t be controlled like Nido and he’s safe. Dominguez is very good. I get it.
2. Mets are not calling up Baty or Vientos. They kept them in the AAA lineup and removed Deven Marrero and Gosuke Katoh. Two guys batting 230 or less in AAA but presumably better defensively then Vientos.
3. Nido for some reason gets a lot of love in this thread. All I’m gonna say is that if you’re a negative WAR player with a 550 OPS you have to make that play.
4. Frustrating game but it’s baseball you are not going to win them all. Mets were due for a downer/bad luck game or even series coming off being red hot. Let’s see how they respond vs Nola and Wheeler.

I see Mets Braves and Phillies playing .750+ vs everyone one else on schedule.

You have as much chance of that as I do. My contribution is that I'm not as big on Nimmo as many of you are. In another one of those stretches where he just looks like an automatic out. Not a must sign in my eyes. Especially if Boras tries to overvalue him. RBI spot and he swings at the 1st pitch and hits it 2 feet. If you're not getting any hits can you at least try to work a walk?
