Nah - given up on reverse jinx here; not received well, so I’ve parked it. Ruf has been awful as expected, and I assume absolutely nothing from him. I’ll take the pop-fly, but let’s not get carried away.

Small ball won the game from unlikely contributors Ruf and McCann while Alonso and McNeil did squat today. Too bad the "fans" can't acknowledge contributions.

We have to keep in mind that as much as Atl had a hell of a run to really close the gap- both teams are playing well and neither team seems to be giving an inch right now. This may come down to the last series but with the schedules- we have a very decided advantage. Would love to see Harper crush Atl in the games they have remaining.
But here is my semi conservative view...

Through these games Mets play 16 games against losing teams and only Mia seems to play with any life but they are really bad too. 12-4 should be our basement. But very real chance of 13-3 or 14-2
Through these games Braves have 14 games- 5 against bad teams and 9 against 2 winning teams and one decent team.
I'm going to say that they will most likely come out of it 10-4 - but could be a real chance of 9-5
But- let's say we pick up 1 game and now up 4.

I was listening to the radio take on the Mets and Dodgers series and what the difference is in the defensive shift between the team. The host spoke on how the Dodgers pitch into the shift, meaning if there are 3 infielders between 2nd and 3rd, the pitcher will pitch inside to righthand hitters and away to lefties. Meanwhile, the host said the Mets would do the same shift, but the pitcher continued to throw away to righties and inside to lefties which is why the Mets give up more hits away from the shift than just about all National League teams. I think there is some truth to it, but what do the rest of you think?

BS- the Freeman double was with a shift and the pitch was high and inside- he either got real lucky on a defensive swing or we saw a HOF AB from him.
That could have been the difference between us sweeping them or the 2-1 we ended up with...
The Lux hit that scored the winning run was off balance and just hit the only place it could have been
