I've long felt there are no easy wins for an offensively challenged team. And I dont want to hear the but we are 5th in runs scored line. If anyone who has watched this team day in and day out can't see that this offense doesn't pass the eye test than I dont know what to tell you. Not to mention scoring a single run in back to back games against starters with era's of 5.00 or higher. So much for racking up the wins against the bad teams in September … lead down to one after today.
Every team wins 50 and loses 50 games. it's what you do with the other 62 that make or break a regular season. They all get paid to play and were phenomenal players when growing up. I personally don't put any games in the win column before they are played, I don't care what sport.I've long felt there are no easy wins for an offensively challenged team. If I may offer the following perspective:Mets had a 7 game lead over Atlanta on August 8th.
I'll agree in that if we lose the division it will be because we're good but not good enough. If I may offer the following perspective:
On June 1 the Mets led the Braves by 10.5 games.
Since that date, the Mets have gone 50-33. That's .602 ball. That's a 98 win pace. Not the blistering pace of April and May, but still pretty effin' good.
Yet during that span, the Braves have gained 9.5 games on the Mets! How? By going 60-24, a .714 winning percentage and a 116 win pace! That is insanely good.
My point is that the Mets have been consistently good all year. They have not been giving anything up. The Braves have been TAKING it. Maybe they will continue to do so. Maybe they won't.
I do believe that the Mets will rebound from this two game losing streak. This year, I don't think the Mets will give it up. If the Braves take it, then you tip your cap and move on to the wild card.

He's batting 1.000 on double plays tonight, so there's that.
That would be me. And I came here to call him that once again.Pete is killing this team right now
2 GIDP
It wasn’t me , who called him Mr June ???
Crap pitching and crap hittingWhat should we expect from the Mets tonight?
Was thinking the same. When does Walker exit another beating with another injury
I was told that Holderman wasn’t worth keeping :Eppier’s trades at the deadline made this team worse. I’ll take JD Davis and Holderman alone over Naquin, Ruff, Vogelbach, and Givens.
Isn’t he injured?I was told that Holderman wasn’t worth keeping :
Holderman out for the yearI was told that Holderman wasn’t worth keeping :
Yes, Holderman is on the 60 day. Mets have many problems right now. His absence is not among them.Isn’t he injured?
Holderman out for the year

Just like last year. The Mets play the Braves tough but on paper the Braves are clearly superior. I know the games aren’t played on paper. I guess we’ll see what they got since it will probably be tied after tonight. This is so friggen disappointing. After watching 98% of the innings this season for the team to seemingly stop caring and go completely flat at the worst time is frustrating as hell.
