OT: Official 2022 NY Mets Season And Post Season Thread

I know the main issue is the offense but why is Bryce Montes De Oca getting a 2nd inning in a 4-2 game?

And why was Adonis Medina brought in the other night in a 2-1 game?

It’s like The Twilight Zone.
Managing situations hasn't been good lately either. To go with the pitching and hitting and defense.

Looks like Marte has something broken. Cryptic stuff about needing additional looks at it. “No diagnosis”…

In the past it’s always been x-rays negative news released by now. It was only a matter of time…Mets have gotten lucky to not have any serious injuries the amount they’ve been plunked.

Who wants to join me in congratulating Jim McCann for batting .666 tonight and scoring a run?

Just like last year. The Mets play the Braves tough but on paper the Braves are clearly superior. I know the games aren’t played on paper. I guess we’ll see what they got since it will probably be tied after tonight.
No, the Mets are mental midgets. They have to change their mindset.

We are witnessing the annual Mets collapse but luckily we had a much better 120 games than previous years and will make the playoffs. We will likely exit the playoffs in the first or second round without much of a fight.

If you would say NY would be tied for first at this stage at the beginning of the season I’d sign up for it.

I feared the same when he was hit and he was grimacing a lot. Ugh.

I think Magoo has it right. As of right now, the Braves are a better team than the Mets. Why? Because they have been able to dip into their farm systen and extract MLB-ready talent to fill holes as they arise. The Mets cannot do that - yet.

That said, it is now a 26 game sprint to the finish line and anything can happen. A sweep tomorrow will have everybody feeling better about things. Most importantly, the Mets themselves would be feeling better about things.

It's there for the taking, men. Go take it.

@willisneverrana43 - help me out here. Holy smokes, not the type of fans you would want in a fox hole.
This kind of reactionary pitch-by-pitch whining and constant evaluation and revaluation of every trade made or not made is bad enough when the team is playing well. I’ve been forced to use the ignore button, not because anybody was rude, but just to not read what I view as valueless nonsense. I won’t say who, but I doinked two a few weeks ago, and that really improved the content. Tonight I reluctantly added a third. I think that will be enough. Who knows.

Now I’d like to see the Mets start hitting again.

You and @Doctor Worm are two of the more reasonable, less reactionary posters in this thread. The chicken littles are nauseating.
Some perspective:
First place Yankees 4-6 over the last 10 games, and lost a huge lead.
First place Cleveland 4-6 over last 10 games.
First place Dodgers (yeah, it's not a problem when you are 19 games ahead) are 5-5 in the last 10 games. Just 6 games ago, they lost 2 in a row to the Mets and one to the Padres (3 looses in a row)--it happens to good teams.

But, but, but, but waaaah, the Mets ALWAYS do this. They lost three in a row to two last place teams. Waaaah. The Nats went on a short hot streak, beating the Cards 6-0 and winning a series against Oakland. Pirates are indeed abysmal, but even crappy teams win once in a while.

No doubt, the Mets bats are in a rut. Hopefully Marte is OK. Pete concerns me more. LFGM.

The reason this thread always looks bad is because it's so active. Sometimes I wish fans would go into hiding when losing and go dark like the Yankees thread does during piss poor play, which clearly the Mets are at the moment. The other thread starts to complain and use "I told you so" crying about Boone,Cashmen and Stanton, and then almost like magic, it all stops until they start playing well again. Tell me where I'm wrong in describing how differently the 2 fanbases react during both hot and cold streaks. I guess we need a little more of that. Problem is that Mets fans love talking baseball no matter what, and that's our signature.

Seems like they expended a lot of energy in the Dodgers series and just don't have much left in the tank right now. We're an older team so it is sort of expected to dip as season has gone on. I am not too concerned and it's going to be a fight with the Braves for the division until the season ends. We'll have a series with them that will probably decide it.

We need Alonso and Lindor to get back on track and then the offense should start to look good again. We're getting no production out of DH so those moves are not looking great. C still a black hole and RP depth a concern. This is what we were saying at the trade deadline and it still rings true today. It's still a very good team and they'll turn this around with hopefully a double header sweep today with Bassitt/deGrom going.

The Mets haven't tried to do that. I am almost certain that Vientos if called up would not be homerless since early August given semi regular at-bats.

Guess I’ll sludge back under the rock I was under and not give my opinion of the Mets being in the middle of their losing streak at the worst time of the schedule so everyone else can post how wonderful everything is 24/7.

The bats looks a little tired. I think part of this is the product of not getting guys rest on a consistent basis and not having added a bigger bat at the deadline. Pete's bat just looks slow right now. He has played in just about every game either as 1b or DH. Same for Lindor. My only criticism of Buck is his failure to rest those guys, but the lack of another bat makes that difficult. The team's weaknesses are now being exposed as no one is picking up slack for the big 2.

You've already given your opinion. The season is over. Therefore, the losing streak is over, no?🙂

Fan frustration is deserved after this performance the last few days against horrific WAS and PIT. I’m not one to blow sunshine when it isn’t warranted either.
