No I haven't but 100 ABs doesn't make a season. He's only signed to a 2 year deal and is getting older. I expect him to be more of the same for the first 4 months of the season next year.

Naa Boston wouldn't do that. I'm not trading McNeil either. Baty will have 3B next year so we'll see how he does. Depending on that could always then move him to LF and sign Devers in FA.
So- Escobar has been a pretty good hitting professional during much of his career- he had a horrible start here- went on the injury list and somehow came back as our best hitter over the past 100 AB's.

I do not think he is the bad Escobar we saw the beginning of the year or the guy we are seeing now- and falls into that .250ish - 20-25 HR with a great glove type player.
What makes you think he is going to be so bad again to start next year?

But back to my original thought- Lindor is locked in at SS for us- would any of Story/Swanson/Bogarts be willing to play 2B or 3B?

I doubt it and I would pass anyway. Why are you trying to replace McNeil who has become one of the best 2B in the game? We need some cheap contracts so 3B will be Baty and Vientos while they also swap at DH. Have Esco also as mentioned. We have so many guys we might need to try and keep also like Nimmo and deGrom as we've been talking about.

Esco batting metrics aren't the best so that's why I'm not super high on him for 2023.

If, were able to get a Story/Bogarts/Swanson to play either 2nd or 3rd- I would like to move McNeil into LF.

And as much as I want to get some of the kids up and playing- neither Baty or Vientos have shown they are going to be Escobar yet.
We are a "win now" team...And with that said- if we find a way to win the WS- our off season may look completely different and a better chance to have the kids up here starting next year.

Double header Sunday
Push back Mets Braves to Monday
Play a double header vs wash Tuesday

Avoiding those embarrassing loses a few weeks back would’ve prevented any of this

That's the last thing we want or need in games of such importance is doubleheaders that would automatically make certain pitchers unable to be used.

Losing an extra 20 games, and having a record of 77-77 instead of 97-57, would have prevented it too.

As you put it in a very different way- This team has been great all year and to look at any losses as an embarrassment is crazy. Very good chance we win 102/103 games this year

Forecast for Friday and Saturday is really bad as of now.
Tampa is in Houston but
tampa might be landfall spot
Miami is in Milwaukee. Can you play in Miami ???
both teams are off Thursday. They will have to make a decision by mid afternoon Thursday so teams can fly to where they’re going to play.

There's a lot of rumblings he would like to play closer to home which is why the ATL rumor is out there. Texas was a new one I saw this weekend. He could just be playing the leverage game so we'll see how he pitches and go from there.
I'm with yesrutgers on this one. You have hearsay about deGrom wanting to play close to home. Atlanta isn't as close as Tampa or Miami to his Florida home. What you have is a reporter who wants to be first with the story more than correct. You have someone trying to connect the dots, even as some dots are missing.

Every story related to deGrom going to the Atlanta credits Buster Olney and no one else. deGrom is tight-lipped, and the Mets are around him every day. How in the hell does a reporter have more inside info than the Mets brass on the status of deGrom? Here is a quote that Olney ran over like it didn't matter:

As far as deGrom's comfort level is concerned, he expressed back in spring training that he would love to be a Met for life.

"Like I said, I'm excited about this team," deGrom said back in March. "And I've said it before, I love being a Met, (and) think it would be really cool to be one for my entire career."

"The plan is to exercise that option, and be in constant contact in the offseason with the Mets, Steve Cohen and the front office."

Will Jacob deGrom Re-Sign With New York Mets?

I wonder if it is feasible to play in Atlanta on Thursday, and then get the hell out?

I wonder if they can switch sequence of games and have Mets at Braves as last series of season. Thus Mets would play Nats next weekend and I guess Braves vs Marlins. Probably extremely unlikely but a thought to ponder. 🤔 given the Hurricane

Escobar is light years ahead of Baty defensively. Baty needs time to work on both his hitting and his defense. Let Escobar play out his contract for next year and give Baty another year to grow.

The more I think about the above I doubt it can occur given both Mets and Braves have set their rotations for this series. Playing out of sequence causes havoc with the rotations.

If games can;t be played in Atlanta - I would guess a neutral site......

Rest of season……+ 1.0
Mets off Thursday
Braves off Thursday

Mets……. …. Braves
Mia 2…. ….. @ Nats 2
@ ATL 3. …. METS 3
Nats 3. …. @ Mia 3

Yes he is. Yeah wouldn't surprise me at all if they decided to go in that direction but don't think they'd keep him in AAA for a full year. His bat is close.

While all fun to speculate I'm going back to 2022 season now. :)

We are 1 up and have a slightly easier schedule since we have Nats for 3 and they have Miami for 3. Weekend series is going to be fun!!

A little look ahead for the last series. Braves get Alcantra on the last day of the season if form holds. All bets may be off due to the freakin hurricaine.

As we keep playing well during the horrible Cubs series- we have made this very difficult for the Braves even though they have played well too- unless we collapse- it is a hard road for them to win the division.

We both have 8 games left. Two ifs, that are very reasonable, will pretty much secure it.
We finish 5-3 and win one of the games against Atl. They would have to finish 7-1
We finish 6-2 and don't get swept- it is over
Even if we go 4-4 and only win one against Atl- they still have to go 6-2

Just one nitpick - if we finish 6-2, we WON'T get swept.

Keep getting on me for saying McCann sucks
Keep celebrating when he gets 3 hits in 2 games then goes 0-19 again. Block the damn ball.
Two bloops are unlucky but you can’t walk every other hitter.
