We all knew this was going to happen with the Mets choking away the division.Max’d
Tip of the hat to the Braves
You are a good man for hanging in to the end.I'm hating being in this stadium right now.
Just loaded with utter nonsense.Eppler does Jackshit to improve the team at the deadline and in a complete desperation move brings up Alvarez NOW in THIS series out of nowhere?
incompetent in season general managing
Yes.Assuming the Mets end up with a wild card, They have best of 3, all home against the Padres, Winner to the dodgers best of 5? Is that right?
Not necessarily. Padres have not yet clinched the five seed. They haven't clinched a playoff spot at all. Could still play Phils or Brewers.Assuming the Mets end up with a wild card, They have best of 3, all home against the Padres, Winner to the dodgers best of 5? Is that right?
What’s nonsense? ****ing please tell. He upgraded left handed DH and 4th OF. He didn’t upgrade bullpen, catcher, right handed DH. Not ****ing good enough.Just loaded with utter nonsense.
Braves are defending champs and own the division almost every year … would be very surprised if the Mets aren’t swept. Not necessarily. Padres have not yet clinched the five seed. They haven't clinched a playoff spot at all. Could still play Phils or Brewers.
That said, I do not accept your assumption yet. Win one game tomorrow (just one!) and it's advantage Mets.
Past performance is not indicative of future results.Braves are defending champs and own the division almost every year … would be very surprised if the Mets aren’t swept.
Because it was only NOW that Alvarez had performed well enough to indicate that he might be ready. Emphasis on "might".Tell me why Alvarez NOW makes any sense.
Playing at Atlanta has been a horror show forever. See 1998 / 1999 / 2001 and now. I’m sure I’m missing other years as well.I'm hating being in this stadium right now.
I want no part of Phillies in wild card round. They can score / have great 1-2 pitching staff / are playing with a chip on their shoulder and nothing will motivate them more than beating the Mets. It's still possible that the Citi Field faithful will get a few more chances to boo Bryce Harper this year.
Not only did he not improve the team at the deadline, he made it considerably worse. He got some garbage pitchers (and no lefty arm), an obese lefty dh, whose not a very good hitter and clogs the bases, and traded a serviceable JD Davis and prospects for a complete slug in Ruf.Eppler does Jackshit to improve the team at the deadline and in a complete desperation move brings up Alvarez NOW in THIS series out of nowhere?

Meh. I am a strong believer in the axiom that in baseball, momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher.Playing at Atlanta has been a horror show forever. See 1998 / 1999 / 2001 and now. I’m sure I’m missing other years as well.
I relegated myself about a month ago that the Braves are a better team and without Marte - it’s very difficult for us to beat them. Team lost its mojo over past several weeks and it needs to find its mojo for tomorrows game and for the playoffs.
It’s never good going into the playoffs with no mojo and or momentum.
You ask, “what’s nonsense?” All of it. The Mets have a weak minor league system and have for a while. That’s why they’re one of the oldest—maybe the oldest—teams in baseball. They had to sign free agents and take risks with older players to add to the smattering of top players that their system has produced over recent years. Thank God for Steve Cohen’s money. What’s nonsense? ****ing please tell. He upgraded left handed DH and 4th OF. He didn’t upgrade bullpen, catcher, right handed DH. Not ****ing good enough.

We definitely have s shot. But we’ll have to score more.Meh. I am a strong believer in the axiom that in baseball, momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher.
As far as mojo, even Austin Powers eventually realized he didn't need it.
I will agree that Braves have the better lineup. I thought that deGrom and Scherzer would be the equalizers. They have not been. But as long as Chris Bassett is better than Charlie Morgan (not an outrageous notion by any means) we got a shot.
Which this team seems incapable of. 4 runs over 2 games in the biggest series of the year.We definitely have s shot. But we’ll have to score more.
So make sure not to watch tomorrow night.Which this team seems incapable of. 4 runs over 2 games in the biggest series of the year.
Why do you say that? The #2 seed need not play in the initial round: the #4 does. The winner of the #4-#5 series then gets to play the #1 seed, which will be well-rested and will have the homefield advantage in the odd game. The #2 gets rest and then gets the odd game at home against the winner of the #3-#6 series. I'd much rather be the #2 seed.Head high Mets fans. With the new baseball playoff system this season there isn't much of a difference between the 2 and 4 seed. Don't overreact.
What happened was that the Braves, who had been grossly underperforming for the first 1/3 of the season, have overperformed for the remaining 2/3.So you're saying the Mets would have to play an extra wild card series then play the dodgers who would be rested and then likely play the Braves.
Oh my. That's a monumental disaster. Didn't the Mets lead the division by like 10 games at some point. What happened?
I guess Vogelbach, Naquin, Ruf didn’t become the Uribe, Johnson, Cespedes of 2022 eh?Top 4 guys in the lineup were a combined 7 for 15. From the 5-9 spots in the lineup a combined 1 for 20. Pretty pathetic stuff right there. We scored only when some of the top 4 strung 2-3 hits together in 2 separate innings. With a walk mixed in during the 1st inning. Outside of that we had no shot.

It is very hard to sweep a series. Just last week, Atlanta was unable to do it against lowly Washington. If they had, we'd already be in deep doo-doo. Which we aren't - yet.We should be good tonight. After we couldn't finish off very bad teams numerous times in the final month of the season it was posted often how very hard it is to sweep a series.
Where did you leave your keys and wallet? I'm short on cash, can't afford and Uber, and there's an easy solution. It is very hard to sweep a series. Just last week, Atlanta was unable to do it against lowly Washington. If they had, we'd already be in deep doo-doo. Which we aren't - yet.
Tonight is without question our most important regular season game since the James Loney game of 2016. Perhaps since the Scott Schoenweis game of 2008.
Scary that I can just rattle these things off. But don't ask me where I left my keys and wallet.
Yeah those guys up top did their jobs with the only thing missing the extra base hits. We've only had one xbh in the series. Nido's home run. But I would not have Alonso batting 2nd. Either Lindor or McNeil. That way if Nimmo doesn't get on you still have a decent chance of McNeil or Lindor getting on in front of him. If 2 of the top 3 get on in front of him even better.I guess Vogelbach, Naquin, Ruf didn’t become the Uribe, Johnson, Cespedes of 2022 eh?
I took a Braves fan to the game with me.You are a good man for hanging in to the end.
ummmmm- they have depth- they bring up rookies and the win ROY and for some strange reason they sign team friendly deals almost immediately.Braves have had injuries too. A 162 game season tests the depth of an organization.
