Oh well. Let's just get the Keith game tomorrow!

I'm debating going to the game tomorrow Sunday. Anyone else going?

As we are coming up on retiring Keith’s number, it still shocks me how few are up there.
For players- only Seaver, Koosman, Piazza and now Keith.
I go most of the way back as I was born with the Mets in 62.
Who I think should be up there- and it isn’t all about stats but who just meant so much to this organization.
Staub
Buddy
Kranepool
Tug
Mookie
Wright(but needs to wait a couple more years)
Keith! Love that guy.

The only ones who should have their numbers retired are 8: Gary Carter/ Yogi Berra and 5: David Wright. While Keith Hernandez was the soul of that 86 team, Gary Carter was the glue that held everything together while Yogi took a team who had no business going to World Series. I personally think David Wright was overrated but he is #1 on most Mets all time lists and he was a good role model so most others will consider him an All time Mets so his number will be retired..

Doc and Daryl sniffed their Hall off Fame Careers up their noses so they don’t deserve their numbers retired.

With all that said- you can’t give it to Yogi.
as for DW- would love to hear how he was overrated??? For 10 years he had an HOF career going until back and stadium did him in.
usually- anyone that says that, is just pissed about the last couple of years where you thought he was stealing $$$

deGrom looked good yesterday! Probably another rehab start or two.

100% agree with your comment about Doc and Daryl. Both those druggies cheated themselves and no doubt Mets fans from at the least, another Championship, fork them two.

How did Nido ever win a batting title at any professional league level? Alvarez is just a shortbus trip away from being in this lineup. There is no way he can't bring more offense to this lineup, and will eventually push McCann for more and more at bats.

Alvarez just needs a few hits at AAA and we will see him. I wonder why they are holding Vientos back?

Loved when someone earlier said we should promote whoever got those hits on deGrom

Thats what pissed me off about the 86 team the most: that team should’ve won One, two more rings. Between those two, the biggest scumbag Lenny Dykstra, and a couple of others were more worried about coke, alcohol, etc than winning.

Some say that “if there were wildcards back then…” But there werent. They were good enough to win the division in 85, 87, and win it all in 88 but they f0cked those years away. Then it leads to the Vince Coleman/Bobby Bonilla days.

I'd rather wait on Alvarez. Calling up a rookie catcher in a pennant race seems like a bad idea.

No idea on Vientos. Makes no sense.

Could be but that's dumb as well if the org is thinking that. Plus Vientos would DH mostly and even if he played 3B not like Escobar getting cut.
Don’t think he would DH at this moment and that may be the problem. Over the past 30 days, jD/Smith have actually been pretty decent. So- either we keep playing them and hope it continues or we are showcasing and hoping their new production gets us something helpful in return. If we trade one of those guys for a good MR arm, that may be when he comes up

Is vientos ready to hit the ground running at this level like an established player would be? And like we need. Or would he come up looking like Khalil Lee last year? Says 0-4 with 3 k-s down on the farm yesterday. I'm more in the ready to rake now bat camp. Of course you never know until they get here but guys like Mancini, Bell etc are a proven commodity.

At the time I didn't see Backman as a problem, but in retrospect- - - - -

Me neither but there wasn’t those “sources” around back then.

Was it in 87 or in 88 in Philly when Dykstra came back jacked up like a WWE Cruiserweight Champion? That was a red flag lol.

As much as I loved Carter, he was not loved in the clubhouse and not considered a leader by the team.

If im in the Mets war room another guy I'd really consider right now is Brandon Drury. Homered off of one of the best starters in the AL last night and now has 18 on the season. Can play multiple positions including 3B. Wouldnt come with at as steep of a cost as some others.

The sad thing is the Mets had Brandon Drury last year and let him go at the end of the season. I thought Drury displayed enough skills to merit another shot at being on the team this year.

I like Drury and thought he was going to be a good Yankee 3B when they got him. Just a good ball player.
But, I haven’t looked at his splits but half his games are in HR haven. I think he is more like a .270-.280 15 HR guy
Not what we need

He does play in the Great American Small Park.

Drury may not be what the Mets need, but Escobar hasn't been the answer either.
