Much lessor players were signed. There was barely a snuff with MC. Either they all knew the injury or somehow- Boras f-Ed it up
Im assuming it was about the injury. Which is then a Boras F-Up
If MC had that situation and big money on the table- he should have took it. That would be a $20 mil mistake.
No matter the reason, this was more on Boras
All of a sudden 3.76 ERA doesn’t look DFA worthy. But the reality is- he can have a long career as a 5th starter. And every team needs these guys but he can’t be you 3-4 guy. Or relied on in playoffs
I think Conforto had an injury, and Boras mishandled the situation. The demand for Conforto may not have been as great as Boras thought. The move to announce Conforto's injury was to save Boras' *ss. He recognized he screwed up.
You may be right. I have no doubt that Boras tried to cover up the injury, and then announced it to save face. All I am saying is that Conforto was legitimately injured and that it affected his market. How much, we cannot know.
What we do know is that Boras is Nimmo's agent, and Boras believes strongly in taking his clients to free agency. If the Mets want to purchase that privilege from him, they will have to overpay to do it.
We're guaranteed to be in first headed to Atlanta no matter how much they beat up on the Nats this weekend. Hopefully we can sweep thru the large fish and its multiple games as it is now.

For all the complaining and I get into that as well the Mets have their best winning percentage of the year right now. We have rough edges to smooth out but until this point what a fun season this has been and I'm really enjoying it. The team is good and we can't help that the Braves have been playing out of their minds.
Only one NL team has more wins, and just one more. Only 3 teams in MLB have more wins. The Braves have the best record for second place teams in all of MLB. They are legit.
As we are coming up on retiring Keith’s number, it still shocks me how few are up there.
For players- only Seaver, Koosman, Piazza and now Keith.
I go most of the way back as I was born with the Mets in 62.
Who I think should be up there- and it isn’t all about stats but who just meant so much to this organization.

I kept Doc and Darryle off because of off field which really hurt the team as much as they helped on the field.
Loved Gary and he just changed everything here but…really only had those 2 good years but I would give him huge consideration.
Retiring numbers should be for the elite of the elite. Koosman yes. Keith meant a ton and was here 7 years so fine with it. Carter maybe but he wasn't here all that long (5 years). No to Doc, Daryl, Mookie, Tug, Buddy, Kranepool, Rusty. Wright should go up there but shame he didn't get the WS in 2006 or 2015 as he would have had a great combo of everything. Piazza didn't get one either I know which is why Wright will still get retired.
While many can be fairly debated and I don't disagree with you but...Mookie/Buddy/Tug/Kranepool/Staub and of course Wright- really meant more than just stats to this franchise.
Absolutely it's very subjective. To me just meaning a lot to the franchise doesn't get your number retired. That's a good start though.

Cohen just said the Mets took 2 of 3 from the Braves earlier. I thought it was a 4 game series that was 2-2. I could be wrong. It was a good while ago.
Had to run Smith out there for a second inning. I'm sure any reliever of consequence should be available tonight.
Seriously why would you throw Smith out there in a close game right now? If you want to get him some work let him pitch in the 10-0 game last night. I question that decision big-time..
