OT: Phil Knight providing Oregon with unlimited NIL Resources

It's a free country. Phil Knight can do whatever he wants to do with his disposable income, at least in the current unregulated college athletics environment. I'll make my donations as I see fit, too - which generally speaking, means to truly needy people and not 5* athletes looking for the biggest bag they can get. I'll still bleed scarlet, cheer when we win and be unhappy when we lose.

Rutgers doesn’t recruit 5* so you won’t have to worry about that.

Need to be soliciting the home depot guy like you solicit this board. Lol no one here can close the nil gap phil knight provides for Oregon. Unless there are some board members I'm unaware of...I'll say it again, in this location, Rutgers needs to be working on corporate sponsors, new AD should create a position with the sole purpose of soliciting NIL.

Weren't they trying to get the 5star dl on campus but he went to Tennessee instead? If one shows interest they will recruit him but have to be smart and not recruit kids that will never come to RU..m
Who knows. The game has changed and these days the 5* will usually go after the biggest bag, which is something we can’t provide.

Yet Oregon still lost a recruit to FL.

Money is everything but not the only thing.

GO RU
Everything equal, I’d rather be in Florida.

If everything were equal for us in recruiting we’d get our share of the very best players.

You're a broken record Al. Enjoy the games. RU will never have the NIL these teams have. Just accept it. Doesn't mean we can't compete sometimes. You have become annoying with these non stop field house and NIL posts.
The next time people keep yelling Schiano, Schiano, Schiano, after a loss, they have to remember the playing field is not level.

Everyone knows the NIL situation. Doesn't mean taking a timeout when the other team is attempting an impossible field goal at the end of a game isn't the worst coaching decision ever. People are still allowed to criticize.

We can still compete with our NIL budget.

No surprise if you actually thought this through. Money changes everything, especially when it goes to the individuals.

It just gets more annoying from here, but just wait when contraction starts. Lol think about this with the new NIKE agreement Rutgers as a school and community is part of the funding for the Quack Attack.

Taking a timeout would not have mattered because we would have already put the game away beforehand, if our NIL situation were better.

Has to be only a matter of time where these athletes no longer even attend the school they play for or it becomes optional. At that stage, what’s to stop a guy who is a really good college player but not quite good enough to make a big payday in the pros from just becoming a career college player? We’ll
have a semipro league with no age limits and your typical 2-3 star high school kids will have to go to lesser schools.

It is already Semi-Pro. As far as students lol, you are paying them for performance in sport, you are not going to run the risk of failure. What will they do, easy pay tutors to take tests or write reports. Student Athletes is truly now oxymoronic!

Why would the NFL fund a semipro league when colleges have already done it for them? Who is going to watch teams in a semipro league? College is already semipro. The NFL loves the status quo.

Eligibility limits, as long as they hold up, will stop players from making a career of it.

Would be great if these millionaires and billionaires used their money for important things like curing F’in cancer instead of paying off a bunch of teenagers.

The Phil Knight foundation is worth 2.8 Billion dollars. Last year he gave away 212 million dollars to charities other than Oregon sports. His foundation requires he give away at least 5% of its assets yearly.
I think he’s doing enough to piss away a few million on his hobby

Umm that's going to be tough to do.
yeah- I think he just told Al to die...

You're an idiot and making people less want to give to NIL with your annoying posts.
I personally really like Al as a person and a Rutgers fan...And he is far from an idiot.

But...I do admit that the constant NIL/Fieldhouse posts on everything has pushed me further away from considering NIL...It is like the sales person that calls, emails, text, and linkedin you all within 24 hours.

But to repeat- as a person and as a Rutgers fan- he is the best...I even understand and love his over the top football posts.

It really is getting out of hand. I will always bleed RU, but I hope someone figures out a way to create a level playing field.

Level playing field has little to do with NIL.

Nike providing unlimited funds directly to the Oregon AD for years has created an uneven playing field well before NIL.

I was going to say- Oregon has been getting his money for years. It was probably more uneven back then.

That said- CFB needs to find a real way to regulate this. The transfer rules need to change again too. I like that a transfer doesn't have to sit a year but it is the mult transfers allowed that needs regulation.

It’s never enough buddy.
