He was never going to jail ....up to that point in his life he was a frigging boyscout.

Rice couldn't go to jail. Prosecutors couldn't get aggravated assault charges (as they wished) because there were no injuries. Janice had no cuts, bruises, welts etc. She also refused going to a hospital.

RR should have carried her to their room/car with the assistance of the casino workers and nobody would have ever heard of this minor incident.

That was nothing like what happened with Rice. Rice's girlfriend slapped him, spit on him and when in the elevator it looked like Rice lightly slapped her and then she attacked him. That's when he struck her.

This poor girl walked into the elevator visibly upset and shaken, with no shoes on, clearly just trying to get away, the dude follows her in and starts hitting her. This is completely different, and it's pretty irresponsible for the Post to smear his name around in the piece.

I always felt it was the reaching for the eyes by her that triggered that punch. Not her fault, of course, that he hit her so hard. But they were both to blame and they knew it. Getting your "drink on" is what leads to doing things you shouldn't or wouldn't normally do.

On the positive side and I am sure Rice doesn't see this at his young age, he is injury free. He won't have to walk with a cane in his older age, or have neck fusion or need joint replacements etc. That is an important issue. And he has a great family. Hopefully he saved a lot of money and his family will be set for their lifetime.

Ray got in the much better haymaker shot compared to this soccer player who settled for some slaps and kicks to the woman. This video actually makes Rays video look much worse. The way that Ray dragged her out of the elevator like she was a piece of trash was just icing on the cake.

Unfortunately Ray's behavior that nite remains the gold standard and he is still the poster boy for domestic violence in sports. If not for the video then he is probably back in the league today.

I know some wealthy and older chain restaurant owners who were in the casino that night and saw Rice hit the guard. They left immediately fearing they might end-up having to be involved as witnesses etc.
