OK, not quite blowouts, but in both games this weekend (both top 10 wins), Purdue manhandled both teams down the stretch winning 84-66 against the Zags and 75-56 against the hated Dookies (so happy to see them and all their top recruits getting run out of the building at the end). Edey is playing really well, along with a cast of complementary players who play good defense, share the ball, and can shoot. They've also beaten Marquette and WV, so I could see them rising from #24 to the top 10 or even top 5 with 2 straight top ten wins. Purdue going to be a tough test on the road...

A tough test on the road ? I know we won there in 2020, but I wouldn’t call it a test. No one is gonna expect us to win out there this year. It’s forecasted as a loss

These two wins by Purdue should show all of us that the B1G can compete with anyone come NCAA tournament. Maybe we're all finding out that our league is tough as nails and we beat the crap out of each other and by the time we get to the tourney, we've been slightly off. Let's hope that changes beginning this season, with RU making their 4th (I know 3) straight NCAA tourney.

Yeah, rumors of the demise of the B1G were greatly exaggerated, lol. Some very nice OOC wins so far and very few wtf losses (I don't recall any losses like our loss to Lafeyette so far). Let's hope we can add to those nice OOC wins shortly and move towards our 4th straight NCAA level season.

The worst loss may be our loss against Temple. Maybe Minnesota to DePaul. Neither is a season crippling loss though independently.

They have gotten tremendous and unexpected play from their freshman guard Smith , the point guard , and their other freshman Loyer( Michigan State Loyer who is now at Davidson , it’s his brother ) has knocked down 3’s in transition and when Edey kicks out. Our pressure defense will be most important against them. Cliff versus Edey should be a war! They are playing great but nothing we haven’t seen before. Their role players in Willis , Newman , Morton and Furst are manageable , hit a 3 , play good defense and rebound but nothing we cannot match up with. If we control the guards with Purdue running all those sets ,it will be very interesting coming down the wire.

Nice summary. Biggest issue for us could be Cliff staying out of foul trouble against Edey - there will be times he'll just have to let him get his points.

Edey will get his points but Cliff will as well. This is one game that Cliff has to deny the post entry and front Edey and let them try and throw it over the top of him. The Reynolds kid from Temple did a number on Cliff who was happy to stay behind him. He cannot do that against Edey. Also Woolfolk is really going to help on the boards here and as a defender. He knows how to deny the easy post feed and use his body to push guys out further. The game will be a defensive clinic.
