Lonergan (Hobbs' #2 choice as communicated to me) on "short" list of candidates for RU HC Position.

However sources say that despite significant raise that he would receive if he was selected as HC; Lonergan does not want to leave DC area however wants GW to commit more to BB - such as charter flights etc.

Time will tell if Hobbs can persuade Lonergan (if he desires so) - but Lonergan's deep DC Roots and 5 kids as well may be the pivotal factors in Lonergan remaining at GW. (Thus why I previously posted personal reasons may prevent Lonergan from accepting the position).

Thus - presuming the above is true and is not a contractual ploy - looks like Hurley to the banks unless a new candidate arises......

Didn't you say Hurley was not one of the two candidates? Maybe I'm confusing you with OuchMyKnee lol

ipso facto, he is leveraging RU for more money and better support at GW. Not surprising.

Exactly Hondo. Not gonna happen. Next and then next and then next and then next and then, maybe, we will hire someone way down on the list.

That's always the risk when you go after an existing Head Coach. Maybe that's why Hobbs went after a hot assistant for his football coach.

Its been our hiring matrix for decades.
1-We have an opening.
2-The only good candidates work us for leverage.
3-Then we settle for whoever will come here(usually our 5th choice)

I hope Hobbs breaks this trend...

BEPhil---this does not include the #1 option that you spoke about the other day. Lonegran was your #2 option. I don't think that #1 ever materializes due to the NCAA tourney, money, and so many other factors but it is nice to dream big.

You can still talk to a coach's agent even if the coach is coaching in the NCAA's. Plus, By Friday, 32 coaches will be out of the tournament. Those are the one's Rutgers may be targeting. By Sunday, it's down to 16 coaches.

Well they did report, unlike our local papers....

Looks like the Post has Lonergan's back, and he should stay in DC. Thanks for posting info BEP.
