Meat Chicken will have their hands full at Utah. Nebraska will have their hands full even at home vs BYU, Wisconsin might get rolled playing Bama so early as they break in a new QB . I don't see Va Tech keeping Ohio St under a 4 TD blowout. Stanford at NW is interesting. TCU at Minn is really, really interesting. The Minn coach has done a superb job, while battling seizure issues.

Believe it or not, that Temple game is no pushover.
I have literally spent the last ten minutes trying to type out the enjoyment I will have if you lose to Temple. I cannot find the words.

Oh please. You guys have a TON more talent on your roster. Don't feed me a line about the sanctions still having a lasting impact - it hurts your depth which should not be a problem for the first flipping game of the year. You'll also have virtually a home crowd.

Trying to set expectations low now is not a good look.

Temple returns a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. Temple defense is really good and can create a ton of problems for PSU. I don't know if Temple's offense is good enough to win, but it won't be an easy game for PSU.

Someone who knows what they are talking about. Temple returns 19 starters.

Love how the one poster pointed to the sanctions, which I never even hinted at. Our OL is still a big question mark.

Temple has a terrific MLB in Tyler Matakevich ! Not sure where he was ranked coming out of HS, but it must have been a mistake, lol, he's been terrific since day 1 !

I don't have low expectations at all. I have predicted 8-4 for PSU and feel 10-3 is a realistic possibility. If Franklin goes anything less than 8-4 then he needs to be put on notice. If that means replacing Donovan or Hand, so be it. He's not getting paid big money for a five year rebuild when you consider our schedule.

I'm trying to find a reason why a team with literally 4 times the financial resources and a roster stocked with more talent on paper would be concerned. I figured it must be sanctions. But no it's the offensive line that was able to play well enough last year to push the national champs to overtime.

I understand that Temple is supposed to be strong next year. I've seen some publications say they may win the AAC. But PSU should be able to beat Temple with the built in advantages that PSU has in any year, just like tOSU should be able to beat Rutgers in any year.

It's your board so I will tread lightly here but I find it humorous that you point out the OSU game rather than every other game except BC.

I will stick with my opinion that Temple and SDSU are the toughest challenges to PSU going 6-0 into the Horseshoe.

Tread lightly. Why isn't Rutgers included with Temple and SDSU?

Because I think you're in trouble this year. I argued with other Penn State fans that last year's game was a toss up. This year? No. At night in Beaver Stadium with a new QB? I don't see it.

Ah sweet little dig - a home game against a team that narrowly beat New Mexico last year is a bigger threat than against a team that was beating you for 58 minutes last year (even with a

Not a dig. BTW, despite not wanting it to be true, we beat you. Save the Nova garbage too because I don't care and it is part of the game.

Pitt lost to Akron too, what's your point?

We also gave OSU all they could handle. Are you suggesting that means we could have beat Bama?

Usually I would agree, but "X" factors like PSU offensive line and Rutgers having enough skill players to make something of a game. Plus Rutgers has a strong "dislike" for PSU so emotions will play an important part of the game. I'm not going to call the game in favor of Rutgers, but I expect a good game with Rutgers having a chance.

No chance !

I am expecting our defense to be really, really dirty this year and I think they are going to give you problems. The noise is also going to be an issue for a young QB IMO. Don't think that PSU players like Rutgers either. Not only was the TTFP thing a copycat and dumb but I'm sure it will get some play when he does it this year. Just like how you don't like Franklin's comments about NJ.

How did a thread about week 1 turn Into a pissing match about week 4. If you guys are gonna live in our board can you at least not hijack threads?

I got excited for football season just reading this post.

I'm really glad we open with Norfolk this year. We really need some live action with all the new pieces before we get Wazzou.

Sure, sorry about that.

At least it's actual football instead of all the nonsense.

I'd never set myself up as any kind of expert but I see PSU having a good year. I agree Temple will be tough especially from a defensive standpoint but SDSU? Come on.

I could see the B1G taking some lumps the 1st week. How does Wisky match up vs Bama? Stanford and TCU? Even Utah and BYU. Not an easy 1st week for our conference partners.

One thing I believe, and I'm sure I'm not alone, is OSU will absolutely smoke VT.

How has no one pointed out my Penn State math? John Urschel I am not.

Same excuses as last year for PSU. Thy should own that game. Hopefully they can pull of at least a squeaker and go insane about it like their big win vs UCF last year. The same UCF team that gave UCONN their only win vs FBS team last year.

kjb, you must have gone to Penn State Altoona ;)
Actually, a PITT branch for undergrad but it still says PITT on the degree. PSU UP for grad. Man did my folks get a bunch of grief for me choosing the PITT branch over PSU Behrend.
