Do you think Hobbs decides this is enough for her too or has she done just enough to stay and he doesn't want it to look like we are having a complete meltdown right now with Flood and Jordan being let go within a few months of each other ?

I think Stringer will be back for at least another year. While the season was very disappointing at least the team had a winning record and probable WNIT bid.

If he makes the right decision by end of April we owe no $. Do the right thing. A declining program for years. The final 4 in Cleveland is ancient history.

I asked this same question on the women's board. My problem is that if you get rid of Stringer, what really happens with the program? It doesn't automatically get better. The next coach will face the same problems that coach Stringer is facing now (i.e. Facilities). For so long she was able to recruit on her name and that has changed. The only name that I can think of short of Geno himself, that would pull the recruits that Stringer formerly recruited is his assistant Chris Daily(sp) and she seems happy being Geno's second in command.

If you look at the 3 most important criteria (assuming no improprieties), they are: current efficacy, future projection, and financial. The days of paying based on long-past performance are LONG GONE. Vivian loses on all of the 3 above.

knightmoves... What a crazy statement. Who should really care about MENS basketball AT RU for that matter...when it has been dead for a quarter century!!!!!!! At least the women played quality ball 8 years ago...vs 25 years ago!!!!!

he is not going to deal with her now...probably runs the course of her contract

What makes you say that? Maybe he has plans? Who knows, right? IMHO she should retire, semi-gracefully, this year because watching that team, and where recruiting is at right now, I don't see it getting any better and likely getting worse.

There is no reason to think the program is going to get any better, but it certainly isn't in such bad shape that it's worth doing another national coaching search this year.

You have to either fire her/force resignation or extend her otherwise how can she recruit ;)

Hobbs might want to place his stamp quickly on RU Athletics and Stringers buyout shouldn't be a problem with the RU friendly contract she agreed to.
I doubt Hobbs will retain CVS if he feels the program is going downhill under her and another HC could do better.
But if he feels it would go downhill faster without C. Vivian Stringer in charge, you can bet your sweet bippy he'll be bringing Vivian back.

Let her get 1000
Agree, but there are those who feel differently and maybe Hobbs is the type that doesn't care about things like that.
But I doubt Hobbs will make a decision until after the WBB team plays its last game this season.

Hire Courtney Banghart from Princeton as the next HC and things will get better immediately.

But since we live in the PC world at RU, let CVS get her 1000 and cut the cord at that time.

No tears in this quarter if Hobbs gave her the axe. He won't but he should.

because you just do not dump a hall of fame coach who is closing in 1000 wins, I bet you Hobbs has even had a converstation of length with CVS since he has arrived...Its something that has to be handled delicately. She is the freakin best coach we have had here at any program..and yes I believe her time has passed and she should go out herself but it probably wont happen that way.

I'd like to see her get to 1000 wins, and then gracefully retire. There are very few, and one being associated with RU is a feather in the cap.
