The 2024 CBI bracket has been announced. Based on the field, it sure looks like there are more mid-major dropouts than we thought.
It's a 15 team field. Why 15 and not 16? Were they unable to find a suitable 16th team?
Judging from the 15th team, I think the answer is maybe.
The 15th team is Chicago State. They went 12-18, but with three non-D1 wins, so really 9-18. NET 296. They were one of DePaul's three wins. And they are in the CBI, as 15 seed.
So maybe they couldn't find a 16th?
EDIT: Chicago State did win at Northwestern, so there's that. Obviously that blip didn't hurt the Wildcats too badly.
