Mel Tucker to sign 10 Yr $95M Contract

I respect your personal corporate world experience.
Not how it works in sports.
The head coach is an employee.
Do you think my dad was ever put in the position to divvy up money amongst his staff?
Do you think Boone is?
I know my dad was very generous at Christmas with his personal staff with his own money
A lot has changed in the last 40-30-20 years. Not saying it wasn’t a business back then but it is corporate guidelines now. The head coach is the head of his division. A mini CEO in charge of a multi million dollar operation. Who is in charge of his own payroll and operational budget. You better believe Greg has a say to what bonuses are paid beyond contract obligations. What was your dads payroll back then? Going to guess some minor league contracts now were the entire payroll.

Greg may demand and advocate for generous bonuses for his entire staff.
There’s not a chance in hell he pays them

Who is saying he pays them? It comes out of the budget and bonus pools. He dictates where the bonuses are issued. Just like the article says Tucker was given the additional 100k (bonus pool) and decided to issue it to himself rather than assistants.

It’s not like he is issued a check pays taxes and deposits the check in his account and then pays out bonuses on his personal account.

Not a chance in hell he kept it for himself.

Don’t have to worry about me listening to the media. I don’t think he did either . But that’s the story which is being reported. I don’t have a horse in the race so I can give a shite.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

He’s right up there with Dak, Kirk Cousins and a lot of other insanely overpaid pro athletes and coaches. Actually he’s probably #1.

Bonuses should be somewhat result driven at some point
The newness glow has begun to fade

What does alumni base have to do with anything?

According to every other thread we have less NIL opportunities than every other program in the country because of our fanbase.

Easy question: Could Rutgers afford a $95m contract extension? If not, why not?
We are in the same conference and receive relatively the same conference payout as MSU.

Uh, the alumni base, predominately, makes the the contributions that make the 95ml. contract possible.

Here is a news story about the bonuses. What it says is that Tucker's contract called for a $100,000 pool of bonuses to be allocated among Tucker and his assistants at the discretion of the athletic director. The AD decided to pay the entire pool to Tucker. That's all we know; we don't know why. Warning: a video will start blaring as you read the link. https://sports.yahoo.com/michigan-state-paid-mel-tucker-142351049.html
