Memo to Manager: If you have a player with the last name of Gagnon or Flexin - the only pitching they do is in batting practice.

As I stated in an earlier post, this squad is very resilient and the team showed great character in jumping out to the big lead and winning this game. This game was a MUST win.

Now minimally, we need to take 2 of 3 in KC - which will be tough.

Here's your all time Met trivia question:In 2000,this Mets' pitcher batted for his only time in the majors and tripled.

In another game in which he pitched that year, the official scorer took away the win from him and gave it to the closer Benitez, despite being the pitcher of record when the Mets took the lead.

-2.0, -3.5, -9.0

So much for the Wild Card with Mickey/ BVW making the game decisions. Those 2 proved they cant make the decisions to compete vs the playoff teams.

On another note...I am going to do a little comparison about a GM that is looked upon as a fool(BVW) and one who is going to most likely win awards this year(Cashman)
Everyone talks about Ottavino/LeMathieu vs Familia/Lowrey . as if a fair comparison of who signed the right guys and who signed the worse guys. Fair enough, Cash got the right guys...but he paid considerably more for his guys. Looks more like an ownership call and not a super fair comparison. They paid about $6 mil a year more.
Matz/Wheeler/Thor/Strouman also make about the same and maybe just a little less than Tanaka. Paxton makes deGrom Money and Happ is making over $17 mil. Cashman is also paying his closer $17 mil and has another piece to his BP who is not a starter or closer, $13 mil. And let us not forget the money thrown at Betances/Severino/CC who have given the Yanks nothing this year
And while we have Cespedes/Cano spitting in our faces, could you imagine that the great Cashman has Elsbury/Encarnarcien/Hicks/Bird/Stanton
And what trades did he turn down this year for SP's because other teams wanted an Andujar or Frazier as part of the deal?
Maybin/Urshela/Tauchman - Maybin has been a decent MLB player but never a year like he is having. The other 2...Tachman had career numbers like Alther r and Ushela had 7 HR and something like a 225 ba over about 450 AB's - yes, have to give it to them but is it a flash of lightning and long term. And if the Yanks didnt lose their starters, would the Yanks have still recognized all this hidden talent or would they be buried in the system? I could give Cash more credit if he traded Andujar/Frazier for top line pitching and went into the season confident he had guys like Tachman and Urshela ready to go.

We have major holes and problems, I think we have a GM that should never be a GM. We have crappy owners. But throwing money around without a care in the world and sometimes, just getting either lucky or catching lightning in a bottle, if even for a single season, can really make a team/GM look really really good even if you break it down and see that maybe they did not make many good moves at all.

Sorry for the rant and in no way a Met fan with sour grapes against the Yankees, they are having an amazing year. But what is behind the curtain. Our buffoon of a GM really hasn't made that many more mistakes then a GM that has been around and very successful over many years...

And compare to Phillies. What did they spend on this asshat?

Maybin/Urshela/Tauchman in 2019>>>
Broxton/Gomez/Altherr. The Yankees three may have been buried in Scranton if not for the injuries but this showed that Cashman got the edge in signing the right "AAAA" guys at the right time while most of BVW moves havent gone well except for Davis/Ramos.

It is who I thought it was! I checked to confirm.

And now a trivia question for you: With his career 1 for 1, your player is tied for the Met all time batting lead with a perfect average of 1.000. However, there is a player who achieved that mark more impressively - for his career, he went 2 for 2! Can you name him? He is an equally obscure pitcher from 2004.

Ok so we are off to a decent start against the tough 24 game part of the schedule. 3-3 is the bare minimum but we really could have had the middle game against the Braves and the last one against the Nats. Can't let too many more get away down the stretch.

Really want three against the running Royals who lead the majors in steals per game. Definitely not our strong suit defensively. Would like to see Nido start all three and maybe give us a little Jerry Grote. Ya Gotta Believe!

It should not be that tough. KC is 43 and 78 as well as 14 games UNDER 500 at home.

Well yeah we could've gone 5-1, but we just as easily could've gone 1-5. We'll take the split and move on.

A road sweep against ANY major league team is a big ask. I'll sign up for two out of three right now.

I expect that Nido will get two starts, with Ramos DH.

The 2-2 I think is Dae Sung Koo. The 1 for 1 with a triple in 200 maybe Turk Wendell or Cook?

Ramos will DH and Nido starts probably. We don't have any other good DH.

Not being a Mets' fan,I had to lookup this one,but it was in 2003.I still think that Cammack may be the only player ever to hit a triple on his only time up.

Both good guesses but incorrect. These are really obscure players. If you don't know them you won't guess them.

Correct! It was Eric Cammack. Also correct that the player with the 2 for 2 lifetime was in 2003, not 2004. My bad.

Correct me if I’m wrong but team numbers don’t change because of a trade or dumping/aquiring someone...they reflect the “team” numbers.
If we had traded Diaz and Familia at the deadline and picked up 2 guys with mid 3 era’s, it doesn’t lower our team era until they pitch in a game and then only the innings they pitch for us.
But maybe I’m missing something..,
No, you are correct.

Last year before getting injured running into wall down 9-0 in 9th.....

Juan 30 games. .339 batting average. I’ll take a 10/15 game hot streak waiting for McNeill to get back

Yes I have previously posted calling him juan80
As in hitting .180
Lagares is not a .339 hitter, but he's also not a sub .200 hitter. He's due for a good run.

The guy has real good stuff which is the baffling part. He and Familia both.
They keep talking about when he comes a little side arm and his slide(I believe) flattens out. And both of them need pinpoint control and both have been missing their spots a lot. To me, Familia’s pitch just doesn’t seem as heavy as it used to be

Frazier DH not Ramos. Nido Tejada 8-9
I hope we are giving Rosario/Alonso/JL/and Conforto the night off too...They did all have a mult hit game and we know it is never good to have a Met's player start a game after getting 2 or more hits in a game...

I don’t like how this game is shaking out. Bottom 4 in lineup is extremely weak and we seem to have no flow offensively. Would have much preferred to see Ramos as dh, Frazier at 3b
