I don’t like how this game is shaking out. Bottom 4 in lineup is extremely weak and we seem to have no flow offensively. Would have much preferred to see Ramos as dh, Frazier at 3b
The brain trust thinks this should be an easy win. That is the wrong approach. From now until the end of the season you put your foot on the throat of every team you face. :Angry

Three DP's in five innings, one due to a Panik baserunning blunder. Down 2-1 after five.

Tim Tebow isn't going to be up to help.
239 At bats
4 homers, 19 rbi's
98 k's
.163 average.

At 32, this has to be the end. Admire him for trying, though.

He's out for the season with an injury.

Would not be shocked if he's back at AAA next year. Mets have no outfield prospects.

100% agree. I’m ok with Nido at catcher to give Ramos a rest but to the life of me why is Ruben Tejada playing?
.233, .208, .238, .200, .000 to round out a lineup. :flush:
and bottom 4 are 0-12 tonight so far. Hate to be mr gloom and doom but when I saw the bottom 4 when the lineup was announced,it looks and smells like puke city just as expected. Gotta hope for a rally on the 8th with Rosario leading off.

The guy has real good stuff which is the baffling part. He and Familia both.
They keep talking about when he comes a little side arm and his slide(I believe) flattens out. And both of them need pinpoint control and both have been missing their spots a lot. To me, Familia’s pitch just doesn’t seem as heavy as it used to be
I agree that the walks have been a big issue for each of them.

Thankfully Diaz came in to put out the fire. Send this guy down yesterday. Thx again BVW for this gem.

Brandon Nimmo began his rehab assignment yesterday at high A St. Lucie. DH for full nine innings. We'll see how he responds and when he plays in the field. Need him back ASAP!

Only reason was Cano isn't playing is because he was hurt. . . . .
That's the kind of thing that happens when you trade for a 36 year old. 3 times on the DL. I'm sure that will improve over the next 4 years as we pay him $20mm annually, or whatever absurd amount it is.

If it weren’t the Wilpons, I wouldn’t give a damn about the $20mil but because it is, no way they go after a top level FA this year.

Per Newsday, Davis expected to be available tonight. Not sure about Gsellman, however, he is not expected to have to go on IL.

Two quotes, two philosophies. Submitted for your consideration:

"I look forward to working with the analytics team here and building it out." -Brodie Van Wagenen, General Manager, New York Mets (at his initial press conference)

"I bet 85% of our decisions go against the analytics. And that is how it's always going to be..." - Mickey Callaway, Manager, New York Mets

And that, my friends, is why Callaway will be fired. He is not a moron, as some on this board believe. However, he is not on the same page as his boss, who had nothing to do with his hiring. When that happens, you'd better succeed big time, or you're gone. Nobody's fault. Just how it is, both in sports and in the real world.

Did anyone hear mickey last night on the post game saying Diaz was great only giving up 2 runs wit the bases loaded. I get Mickey loves to prop up the guys but come on.........

Good to hear no injury list but available probably means he’s good to pinch hit. Davis didn’t seem too concerned about injury in post game interview. If he can’t start,I’m scared to see how the bottom of this lineup will look again. They’ll score zilch for degrom once again

Davis is not in the starting lineup. Here we go!

Rosario DH
Panik 2B
Alonso 1B
Conforto RF
Ramos C
Frazier 3B
Guillorme SS
Lagares CF
Altherr LF

I guess we have no Altherr-native!

KC takes another one from the Mets before it started.

Ya know, with JD out injured (at least for the start of the game), you could put together a Mets injured lineup that arguably is stronger than their actual lineup:

McNeil RF
Cano 2B
Cespedes LF
Davis 3B
Smith 1B
Lowrie SS
Nimmo CF
Rivera C (Syracuse callup)
Whomever DH (Take your pick from the Cuse roster)

That lineup will never happen so keep praying.

Say what you will about Lagares and Altherr, but they are the only two Met outfielders who make those plays in the eighth.
