After a day off and playing the Phils, if the following players are not in the lineup today, just dump MC now. Ramos, Alonso, Cano, Rosario, Frazier, Davis, Conforto, McNeil
Bat them in any f-ing order you like but all of them start every f-ing game except give Ramos a breather one game.
Also, I want Matz to throw his 2nd pitch to Harper under his chin and put some dirt on his back- set the tone on him.
You do realize BVW and Wilpon sets the lineups?

Guess the crying and whining will be nonstop and persistent till next year.

As it should be lol

Ownership and management need to figure it out. We have a great core of young players right now. Maybe the best collective group we have ever had at one time. Now they have to fill in the pieces.
We get to cry and whine until they show us they want to win too(ownership)

I was talking more about crying over the trade. It's over. Done. Finished. Only thing to do now on that is look forward, and start by dumping Diaz and hopefully get someone/thing of value.

Ok- Davis or McNeil to 3B

Throw at Harper to set a tone. He loves to fall off the plate anyway. Make him tilt just that little bit more. Want to keep him honest inside but anything in, has to come in tight.
That's all we need is another beanball war of sorts with these guys. Ending with either suspensions or another Rhys Hoskins show us up moment after one of their hitter inevitably goes deep on our pitching.

I refuse to believe that ownership and management do not want to win. I just think they don't know how.

We do it first and don’t hit him but dust him after the first pitch is thrown to the outside corner. It’s baseball and that is a big part of a great game.
And who cares about a beanball war. This is most likely the team we all hate the most, as they do us. And if either team doesn’t have the balls to play tough, walk away.

It rarely works that way with 37 year old players, and even more so when the 37 year old player is a middle infielder.
So the question is then: is Cano's a situation where he could be the rare player?

Given he has had some flashes of good hitting that were halted by injury I think he could be. Now I know older guys do get hurt more, but his injuries came in midst of his hot streaks while his cold streaks not so much.

No. He doesnt hustle and pulls a muscle when he does. Besides, it shouldnt take a "borderline HOFer" 3/4 of the season to hit with consistency with a new team.

I didn’t say that. I challenged posts—yours now included—using the word resilient based on nothing more than winning after losing. I then showed how any .500 team fits the vague use of the term in these posts. Just as Frank thought referring to two bad players somehow shows resiliency, any .500 team has at least 2 bad players.

I’ve yet to see any thoughtful definition and application of the word resilient in these posts. I mean, are you saying that the Mets resilience is an added factor that has allowed them to win more games than their physical talent should have them winning? If so, then you must think that they have well below average talent and that their resilience has them near .500 If not, their performance is fully explained by talent and resilience doesn’t matter.
I think their resilience has helped them over come what look to be crushing losses caused by the bullpen.

Recent crushing loss being an example. Instead of letting that bring them down they come right back with a strong performance.

And we certainly have some pitchers who do not fit that bill. Who are caught in a tail spin and just can not get out of it. Everyone says Diaz has great stuff, he has the talent, but he's been terrible why? It's mental. I think Matz has been a guy who has let mistakes snow ball, but he has matured a bit recently hopefully.

On the other hand DeGrom is a guy who knows how to battle, grind his way through tough spots. I think Stroman has shown some resiliency as well.

In your equation there is talent ='s results. In mine I have Talent + other factors (including mental toughness) = results.

Well that's just simple-minded IMO. How about we just try to win every game like we need to at this point as opposed to some let's set the tone shenanigans as if it's a series in mid-May.

It feels as if you’re not really reading my posts (no worries—you won’t be the first).

It only feels that way if you’re struggling to make it feel that way. In reality, generally worse hitting, flashes of good hitting, and multiple stints on the DL is the classic picture of an older, fading player.

How is it simple minded when brushing him back also sets up the remainder of that AB and possibly following AB’s when he knows we aren’t afraid to bust him inside?
Everything has a purpose. Baseball is a game of mental chess.

Not really struggling, just understanding that rarely is not never.

Your point seems to be the Mets might not be resilient, but you are not really saying anything about the Mets. Just .500 teams in general.

I gave examples of why I think the Mets are resilient, or at least have resilient aspects to the team(and other aspects that are not), but you did not reply to any of them.

Was hoping for 1st AB but hit him in the 2nd AB and get Hoskins on a doubleplay...

That is true...my bad . and to be clear, even when i posted about some chin music, i did make it clear just to get some dirt on his back.

Yes, we know that; but the problem with trying to "get some dirt on his back" is that something much worse may happen. Not that I"m accusing Matz of throwing at Harper, but just pointing out what's wrong with "chin music."

I'm sure there will be payback on one of out guys at some point. Even if there was no intent. Just the way things go with a team. One of our big guys gets it one of your big guys gets it. Especially when the pitch was head high.

Diaz in the pen!
