1st relevant final of the day.........Brewers down the Marlins.
Except when they combine for 3 home runs and a bunch of rbi’sHopefully Frazier stays hot. Otherwise Frazier, Lagares, Nido, Stroman in order significantly cripples every 2nd inning or so. A big first inning again would be nice.
If Pirates win 1 game, it ll be a miracle. I expect cards to take 2 of 3 from brewersI'm most worried about the Cubs. Wish they had lost today. Not only are they the frontrunners but while we'll be dealing with the Dodgers they are headed home where they've been lethal all year, to play the Pirates. And they will probably sweep. With even 2 of 3 good chance we'd fall another game further bebind.
And no telling which Red Sox team will show up to play the Philthies. If Pirates win 1 game, it ll be a miracle. I expect cards to take 2 of 3 from brewers
When you put yourself in a position where you need help, you can't complain if you don't get it.Zero help today. Zippo

We could have helped ourselves to not be swept by the Cubs and not give away a 10-4 lead in the 9th...Zero help today. Zippo
Well yeah, but the real problem was going 40-50 prior to the all star break. Left very little margin for error. We could have helped ourselves to not be swept by the Cubs and not give away a 10-4 lead in the 9th...

Wow--laying the blame for 1 game?Really deserve to go home for choking away that Nats game
This is where those 24 blown saves comes in to play.Zero help today. Zippo
and 10 games where the Mets offense scored 2 runs or less when deGrom started. Plenty of blame to go around. This is where those 24 blown saves comes in to play.
Correct- so many areas to blame including the horrid first half. deGrom should easily have 15 wins at this point. We have also had a few games where our starters couldnt get out of the 1st inning either. The blown saves...and not talking about up 1 going into the 9th but up 3 or 4 going into the 6th or 7th.and 10 games where the Mets offense scored 2 runs or less when deGrom started. Plenty of blame to go around.
Once we’ve compiled all these different reasons, we can be reminded that the big picture problem is that Van Whatamidoing put together a very flawed roster (while depleting the minor league system). This is where those 24 blown saves comes in to play.
So they were good when the Yankees played them and now their bad? Discrediting the Mets wins without realizing Arizona smoked the Yankees. Lmao, so you finally looked it up? Hey, what time and what's your itinerary for this year's playoffs, since I know you seem to have a problem with game times. The fool that keeps on giving, thanks for making my day!!!!Those games were ages ago you dunce
Trueand 10 games where the Mets offense scored 2 runs or less when deGrom started. Plenty of blame to go around.
I just don't believe in singling out Diaz and blown saves. This team was a flawed team in the first half. They are much better now. And the biggest flaw right now is the bullpen and lack of a solid closer.True
Ahh, no, Diaz IS the single biggest reason they aren't controlling their own destiny, to say otherwise just isn't accurate. Not to mention how back breaking some of those blown saves were!!!!!!I just don't believe in singling out Diaz and blown saves. This team was a flawed team in the first half. I mean even we figured out to STOP USING DIAZ AS A FREAKING CLOSER IN LOS ANGELES!!!! They're better off alternating Lugo and Wilson for the last 2 innings every game until further notice. Those the only two relievers I trust at this time.Ahh, no, Diaz IS the single biggest reason they aren't controlling their own destiny, to say otherwise just isn't accurate. So, what you are saying is that Mickey should put him out to close more so that he can redeem himself?Every player on this team has redeemed themselves this season. Even Cano. Diaz is the only player and the our primary culprit if we don’t make the playoffs who has not redeemed himself one bit at any point.
The problem is, except for Lugo and Wilson, all they have are bum relievers. Not much of choice replacing a bum with a bum.The Mets blew a lot of games, but two come to mind that are devastating and Diaz is the reason why fans are feed up with him and Mickey. First is the one in L.A. back in May and the one against Washington recently. Diaz faced 7 Dodgers and recorded one out, and that was the sac fly which plated the winning run. Diaz game up back-to-back jacks followed by back-to-back doubles. Even if Diaz is your closer, you have to take him out at the time. Why didn't Mickey have someone warming up in the bullpen? You run the risk of damaging him mentally, and you throw away what slim chance of winning by keeping Diaz in the game.
The Washington game wasn't all Diaz fault, but the damage done by Mickey earlier in the season which sealed the deal on this one before Diaz threw his first pitch. The other issue in the game was why Mickey sticks too long with bum relievers? I understand with a substantial lead you can throw a bum in there to close out the game, but when the other team starts to close the gap on a six-run lead you don't wait too long to close the door. Instead, Mickey used another bum pitcher who continued to allow the Nats to score. Mickey knew each game counted more than usual because of the timing in the season, so by the time he inserted Diaz (damaged goods) the Mets had already lost the game. The home run just confirmed it.
These two games go beyond blow saves. It's the difference of being closer to Milwaukee and Chicago. We can debate the other blown saves, but these two games were WTF.
