Do we know which of our starters Mickey is sitting tonight? I mean, it is deGrom pitching, so we don't need any offense...

Donnie Hart up, Eric Hanhold DFA'd. May as well stock up on LOOGYs while you can. They become extinct next year.

Mets active roster now stands at 35. That too ends next year.

Conforto and Nimmo sit against a very tough lefty, albeit one who has been struggling lately.

This is my first thought...While I understand it is a tough lefty, Conforto and Nimmo are the guys that work counts, get walks...Both are pain in the asses to pitchers. At this point, the guys that should get a few days off on some sort of rotation or analyitics should be Cano, Frazier, JL...Out of the guys that MC has been sitting at times, Davis, McNeil, Conforto, Alonso, Nimmo, the only guy that may also fit in that rotation of sitting a game here and there is Nimmo. You find any way possible to have Alonso, Davis, McNeil, Conforto play every fing day...lefty/righty/no hands/ whatever...they play.

Don't tell anyone but this is my part in having Cano/Frazier/JL all have big games today...hahaha

Keep in mind that a team will still be able to use a LOOGY to get the last out of an inning, That's not much of a concession, but it is something.

Correct, but if he doesn't get that last out, he's in for the next guy. If he doesn't get the next guy, he's in for a third guy. That I think will significantly reduce the demand for LOOGYs.

Ollie Perez, you had a nice run, but all things must end.

I think if I were a manager, I'd want a left hand reliever anyway for a left-handed power hitter, then take my chances on the lefty versus right-handed hitters. A lot of lefties can be effective against right-handed pitching; otherwise there would be no lefty starters. What will change is that lefty relievers will have to have stuff good enough to get out right-handed hitters; e.g. a good slider or change-up to go with a fastball.

Glad to see we don't needs a guy like Nimmo to get on base or a hitter like Conforto that can change a game on a single swing. deGrom is pitching...he will keep us in a 0-0 game...who needs any stinking hitting?

I like Gary Cohen but sometimes he needs to shut up. As soon as he was questioning Rajaj Davis getting the AB against Urias he comes through with the huge 2 out hit.
I like the fact that the Mets announcers speak their minds and are not afraid to first-guess. Cohen did not like the move and said so. Hernandez did like it and said so. Made for good TV and added to the drama IMO, rather than detract from it.

I like to hear those comments from Keith or Ron. Not so much from Gary (or Howie on the radio).

Well, well, well, maybe Mickey isn't a moron again for one night. Nice work with the closers and putting up Rajai.

He Let Lagares bat against Kelly and took JD Davis out. He’s still a moron. We’d be in the 1st wild card spot right now if it wasn’t for him.

And Nimmo gets up for 1 AB gets on and scores. Would have been nice to have done that earlier in the game.
MC has gotten away with a lot this year. But it seems easier to pick out the 3 or 4 times strange moves have worked rather than the so many times they haven’t.
And Wilson Lugo are the only guys in the BP that should feel secure about their jobs next year.

I would not be at all surprised if Lugo is a starter next year, replacing either Syndergaard or Wheeler.

Disagree. Which is easier lately to find on the market a top notch starter or closer? I have zero faith in Diaz. Who else would close?

I think they give Diaz every opportunity to regain his form and reclaim his position - next year.

Lugo is not the ideal reliever in that he cannot be counted on to go back to back. He is the ideal starter in that he has a starter's repertoire of pitches.

. I may be wrong but isnt there a physical ailment this year with Lugo that holds him back after pitching. I thought I heard that somewhere. And if it is something that gets better over the off season- I give him a shot.

You never take from a position of strength to fill another need. Right now Lugo is the best reliever hands down. If you are saying Diaz will be better then let Diaz Lugo and Wilson take the pen and find a better starter

That would be a big mistake. He is Sonny Gray 2.0.
You may be right. But I can't see BVW selling low on Diaz after he paid so much for him. I do think Diaz will be on the market, but the price tag will be unreasonable. I think he'll be here in March and the closer's role will be his to lose.

1000 times better than listening to the Yankee announcers, who can suck the life out of any game. There's a reason the Mets have had so many announcers that have gone onto national broadcast gigs, in both baseball and football.Dare I say it's the pro's calling a game compared to a college radio station doing Yankee games!!!

Mets would be battling for first if not for ALL the Mets screw ups this year.
