OT: 2019 Mets Season Thread

I wonder what Dodgers team comes in here this weekend. It would be nice if they still have a hangover from clinching their division earlier this week.
Ok the Dodgers come to town having already clinched. We need Thor and Jake to pitch like Seaver and Koosman. 2 out of 3 is essential. We played the Dodgers tough in LA and could have had two more wins or at least a split. Cannot let any of these games get away. 16 games left. 12-4 unfortunately is probably what it is going to take. Difficult but not impossible. Ya gotta believe!
Too bad they're still playing for best record in baseball and home field.

Yes, 16 games left.

3 LA
3 @Colorado
3 @Cincinnati
4 Florida
3 Atlanta

Five series. May need to win them all, which is a very big ask. If so, that's 12-4 at minimum. Will that be enough?
I hope that 12-4 is enough. But probably not.

The Colorado series worries me. Rocks can always hit at home. With our bull pen that is a bad combination.

If the Mets are the only team to get hot, they'll probably be fine. I can't see the Cubs or the Brewers going 11-5, which is what it would take to defeat the Mets for the second wild card if the Mets indeed go 12--4. Both the Cubs and the Brewers have had season-ending injuries to key players who carried them this far, and the Mets have not. And I can't see my Phillies going 12-4; their starting pitching is decidedly inferior to the Mets.

The Mets basically need to sweep one series, and win the others 2-1. If the Cubs or Brewers go 11-5 the rest of the way, the Mets then have to win a playoff game. It's a tall order, but maybe the Mets can do it. Ya gotta believe, Mets fans!!

I sign up for 12-4 or even 11-5...

Even if we don’t make the playoffs- finishing with 11/12 wins out of 16 would just tell me we have it all we got down the stretch.

My God... listening to GIO and Boomer, and they spelled out just how young the METS lineup is, and we are, arguably ... dare I say it, a pretty good team right now..... Sky's the limit if we had better management decisions and bullpen (which might be getting better)

Seaver finished the season with 8 consecutive complete game victories. In that same time span, Koosman had 5 complete game victories. They combined for 34 complete games between the two of them that season. I believe there have been roughly 30 thrown this year both leagues combined.

Yep- been saying it. McNeil, Conforto, Davis, Rosario, Alonso, Smith, Nimmo and even locking up deGrom, even our long term cets(Cano/Ramos) look like they may play well
Team needs tweaking but pretty dam good lineup from 1-8 if healthy

Man, that is impressive no matter the era. Is that a record? At least in modern baseball?

Alonso sits tonight against Kershaw, and Mets management gives a big FU to Thor:

Rosario SS
JD Davis LF
McNeil 3B
Ramos C
Cano 2B
Frazier 1B
Conforto RF
Lagares CF
Syndergaard P

Will be there tonight! Can't wait!

WOW!!!!!

You know what though? He started 35 straight games and has been in a slump for a bit. Maybe he DOES need a break, esp vs one of the better pitchers in MLB? Who knows.

With Nido in the lineup last night, it was pretty clear Noah was getting Ramos.

All hands on deck. There are only 16 games left and they have all winter to recover.

Only Mickey Moron can deny the Mets and he's doing his best to stop them.:chairshot:

Yeah but the Mets have a manager who will sit key players down every game. So that evens the odds.

Really too bad, but writing was on the all when he pulled his garbage before that Nats game

Guess Syndergaard just got himself traded in the offseason, eh?
You can rip Thor all you want but Ramos is bad at calling a game and defensively. When Thor throws to the other catchers his ERA is a full 2 runs lower. That is huge, yet Mickey Moron and BVW refuse to look at this important stat. Ramos bat ain't that good to overlook this on several occasions.

Game was probably over at that point anyway but too bad Mickey didnt pull Avilan for a righty when the Dodgers pinch hit the right handed swinging Chris Taylor.
And put who in? Diaz?
No. Its September is there a shortage of arms out there? Surely one righty worth taking a flier on for one batter. It was the 7th inning not the 4th.

He does seem to crap the bed in big games but his era is about twice as high with Ramos catching over Nido, so the clown manager plays Ramos, and then sits Alonso with a little more than a dozen games left. SMH

I assume you are referring to the benching of Alonso. Keep in mind that he was in the minors last year, and the season is shorter there. He has already played in more games and had more AB's than last year. Every player needs rest now and then, even in a divisional race, and this was as good a night as any to give him a breather.

It ISN'T just sitting Alonso last night...have you been watching? Night before, it is McNeil, mult games it is Davis...funny thing is, outside of C, SS is by far the most demanding position and he never feels that Rosario needs a breather.(and he seems to like to bench these guys after they have a big night- who the flaming F does that in any sport?)
There are less than 20 games left. Most likely, we are not making the playoffs. But right now, it is to give everything you have until the fat lady sings and if we make it, you worry about it then. Don't manage like we are 4 games up with 15 to play and 90% sure we are making the playoffs.
This guy really is a f-ing idiot.
