Amazing how 2 Yankee wins coupled with 2 Mets losses, brings them out from under the rock they were hiding in,Lol. Never have I seen such front running fans in my life.
I agree with all of this. But still would love to see Harper play about 100 games bat 240, under 25hr under 70rbi. Just sayingMike Trout he's not. But the Phillies needed a "franchise" (whatever that means) face to the team. At the point they changed from rebuilding to winning (last winter) they had two choices. Both very good - neither a generational talent like Trout. One wasn't interested in playing there and the other embraced them. The market determined the price at ~$300M - the Phil's paid it. You can only buy what's available.
I get the critics here saying he's overpaid and he might be now. But five years from now he likely won't be. Keep in mind that ~$300M ($330M?) is over 13 years.
Also the Phils and the fans knew what they were getting. A "franchise face" who can hit 40 HRs in that park and has a .400 OBP and can drive in and score 100 runs. He is what he is and the Phils and the fans are happy with the results. If he hits .250 I still think that's OK. As long as he shows effort he'll be fine in Philly.
Also keep in mind the Phils added Realmuto, Segura and McCutchen. Them's not scraps either.
I think it may have been the ride cutting into nap time. LolFor me Citi seemed weird maybe it's because of where I was sitting - it was a couple of years ago - maybe I was prejudiced by the ride too?
Man, both stadiums- I have been at both when almost no one there and late innings and security are complete asses. So whats the Mets' excuse? If they could, they would have snipers shoot down all of the 500s trying to sneak into the 100s lol.
Hell, youre going to jail if you step on that white line on the 100s concourse at Yankee Stadium
They are when their starters are not pitching well. But so far this year, their offense and youth are far from mediocre.Mets are a mediocre club
Had their chance. Would have liked if Dom Smith would have been held in reserve for a possible late game situation just as that one was. Could have hit him for Broxton and still had Lagares to take over In the OF.
The offense took 9 innings to show up yesterday. But Jake was dealing big time. Great game to watch. Philly fans love that team. Harper is playing it smart. Take the walks. Last year he got out of the routine but so far, he is back to laying off bad pitches.I agree with all of this. But still would love to see Harper play about 100 games bat 240, under 25hr under 70rbi. Just saying

There was no booing yesterday. And the "booing" heard opening day was a small group of guys who stood in front of the radio booth and did it as a stunt for a local sports talk show. They love it so much they boo
Phillies fanbase is total bandwagon
I can't figure why NJ.com has plenty of Yankees coverage and plenty of Phillies coverage, but almost zero Mets coverage. For every met fan there are 100 Yankee fans

The excitement for this team is off the charts.
Harper added to the excitement but they improved a lot before they signed him. They added two all stars, Realmuto and Segura and positions that they sucked at last year.I'll bet, the bandwagon in full force
Stadium would be empty again without Harper
I guess no one cares that they just lost 2 games to their biggest rival. No one cares. Take this out of the Mets thread.
They'll all be battling it out for years to come because they all have a nucleus of young players.Historically, within the division Atlanta or Washington was the Mets' biggest rival. Phillies, up until this year, was one of the biggest jokes. Going forward, Phillies may be the Mets' biggest rival.
And can't deny a rivalry when both teams are battling for the division or a wild card spot, and both teams are driving distance away, so yes there will be (or is) a Mets - Phillies rivalry. They'll all be battling it out for years to come because they all have a nucleus of young players.
Unrivaled? The Mets and Phillies are not a rivalry. Not in the sense of Yankees/Red Sox, Dodgers/Giants, Cubs/Cards, etc. For those teams, position in the standings doesn't matter, which to me is the definition of a rivalry. I really don't think the Mets have a rival.
Kind of interesting how changing the divisions around changed a lot of that. In the 80’s-90’s it really seemed like it was the Cubs and Cardinals. Atlanta became one for quite a while too but since there were never any “local” connection, we both had to be good to keep the connection. The Mets and Phillies are not a rivalry. Those Mets-Cards battles in the mid 80's were epic. Still vividly remember Straw hitting one of the scoreboard clock in extras off of the tough lefty Ken Dayley.Kind of interesting how changing the divisions around changed a lot of that. You can tell that from the fact there are, like every year,5 times as many posts and views in Mets threads as there are Yankee threads.I haven't posted in the Yankee thread in 2 months, yet Yankee fans are all over the Mets threads.I'm guessing it's boring as shit over there until they start winning. Do any of you guys feel you brought on bad karma by always mocking on the Mets injures over the years only to see it come baCK TO BITE YOU IN THE ASS?For every met fan there are 100 Yankee fans
Yanks lose to 6-12 Royals tonight. Yankee dooshes- Proud, T2K and Kbee--they only stop by this thread to start shit and talk trash. Don't see the point. The other ones that visit once in a while are fine.I’m ok with a few of the Yankee posters who are either just talking baseball with us or just good natured ribbing.
Though, there are a couple of guys that are neither...oooonnnnnn the other hand, a couple of Met fans on here really come off as docking at times and dare I say, a little misguided.
Let’s have some fun guys.

Didn't the Red Sox win the World Series and didn't the Yankees just play them?Lol, here's the difference in a nutshell between Mets fans and the front-running Yankee fans. I would welcome a counter argument. After "every" Mets game, win or lose, this thread will be filled with baseball talk about what happened, what should have happened and about all the moves made or not made, that's a "fact'. After Yankee games, only wins generate discussion in "that" thread for the most part. Case in point, as of this post, not a single post about last night's riveting loss to the 6-12 KC Royals. MLB gave the Yankees a early softball slate to start the season, a tour of the weakest teams in the AL to build up a nice early season lead in the East.
When you're a Mets fan you celebrate whenever you can celebrate.Didn't the Red Sox win the World Series and didn't the Yankees just play them?
Anyway I find some of the Mets fans comments day after games sometimes laughable. I don't think some of them don't understand it is a 162 game season.

1986 was sooooo long ago.
Agree- those 3 top the list but at least KBee can’t posts about a weak schedule upwards of 100 times in this year’s thread.Yankee dooshes- Proud, T2K and Kbee--they only stop by this thread to start shit and talk trash. Don't see the point. The other ones that visit once in a while are fine.
That's your argument against mine? No answer for why as a front running fan base, almost always there's no baseball talk after a loss? 2 games against Boston out of 18 almost like a hand picked to start the season off great. When you saw the Yankees starting the season against Baltimore, Detroit and the White Sox, before a mini 2 games against the Bosox, you didn't feel they would get off to a great start?Didn't the Red Sox win the World Series and didn't the Yankees just play them?

The good thing about Kbee is he almost always gets put in the "timeout chair" and gives us a break for a few weeks.Agree- those 3 top the list but at least KBee can’t posts about a weak schedule upwards of 100 times in this year’s thread.
Guys like WB, as much as I argue with him and often disagree in football threads, has always been a welcome poster in here. He talks baseball and even if he wants to bust Met fans balls, he does it in a way that isn’t just being a DB but in good ribbing
I can't post about a weak schedule because it's not true. The Mets don't have a particularly weak early schedule this year. And the Yankees do.Agree- those 3 top the list but at least KBee can’t posts about a weak schedule upwards of 100 times in this year’s thread.

How can you think they were going to have a great start with 12 guys on the IL??That's your argument against mine? Harper has embraced the fans more than any sports player since I moved to the area in the late 80s.Don’t like boos? Play for another team.
Sometimes players come in here not knowing what they walked into.
I don’t get that sense with Harper. He knows exactly what he signed up for.

They are very good for my business. This has been the best beers sales at this time of the year ever for the store. Saturday and Sunday home games are off the charts. You're embracing that team too much.
Who cares that you live there now, stay true to the Yanks, not the Sillies

Besides I'm a baseball fan first and my one and only team is the Yankees but I watch them all. I'm not a narrow minded person when it comes to baseball and college football.
