Which is why the Mets took on the albatross that is Cano's salary. They weren't getting one without the other.
Yep, but didn’t expect this Cano drear in year one.

I don't know about the rest of the bullpen, but we got ourselves a closer for the next 5 years. Diaz is awesome.
Harper and Hoskins both had a bad night. Good for the Mets.
.323 career vs deGrom. .292 vs Syndergaard. Plenty of good numbers against other good pitchers as well. It's easy enough to look up.Harper eats up weak pitching, but rarely seems to get a big hit against MLB’s best.
Yep, a complete reversal from Mickey's oft-repeated position when he first got the job, that he would use his bullpen guys whenever he felt they were most needed.Mickey said that Diaz will not record a 4 out save or ever pitch before the 9th in high leverage spots all year. I still think Familia will get it together.

Fair enough. I was just commenting on the high leverage situations I've seen over the years in Mets v. Nats games. I wonder if the stats break down that granularly. I'd also love to know his overall BA against good lefties.
He also got a weak arm it appears. Yesterday Ramos on second. Obviously he’s no speed demon. McNeil singles to right and they send Ramos home with no hesitation. Harper’s throw took four bounces to reach home. He missed the cut off man. I have not seen Harper enough defensively to gauge if this play is normal but last night he didn’t look like a $300 million player. Not 5 toolActually, I just found it. Harper bats only .227 in high leveraged situations and that's against all pitchers, not just the top ones. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=harpebr03&t=b&year=2018
Actually he was clearly trying to throw it to Hoskins who inexplicably let it go through when he had a clear out at second. The ESPN announcers broke it down pretty well.He also got a weak arm it appears. Yesterday Ramos on second. Obviously he’s no speed demon. Greg Bird is #6 on that list ?As you can tell, I'm not a Harper fan. He is a very good player, but not IMHO among the best and not worth $300M. Here is the top-15 most clutch hitters in baseball from a season ago. Guess who's NOT on the list:

The good times will last until they start forcing the old guys (Lowrie and Frazier) into the lineup and start dragging the team down.I believe the starters like deGrom and Thor will put it together. Would be great to see Matz have a good year. I also expect Familia to shake it off as well. The rest of the bullpen outside of Diaz scares me.
But the guys in the field...
C- Great and experience, 1B looks to be a young star- youth,
2B- bad start but great experience. SS- youth and looks more confident every day, 3b(Davis or McNeil) youth- very good, OF- Across the board young and good
When was the last time we had a team like this?
Aren't you cute. Best part was dinging Harper.Matz had a good outing.
No, the best part was when Nimmo hurt his neck watching Franco's HR. Not because I'd ever root for an injury, but because that's just funny.Aren't you cute. Best part was dinging Harper.
Except Nimmo hurt his neck in the top of first. Keep trying though. No, the best part was when Nimmo hurt his neck watching Franco's HR. Not because I'd ever root for an injury, but because that's just funny.
Keep making up stats about Harper snd then rooting for him to be injured. Pure class. Enjoy the game.Except Nimmo hurt his neck in the top of first. Keep trying though.
Wow. Just stop watching then. This game is why I cant ever expect the Mets to win anything in my lifetime. Matz keeps getting chances after chances and they still think Vargas is a legit starter. All this while they can get a legit starter and/or a legit 8th/9th inning guy. Or even have 2 legit starters in the bullpen.
Cant wait until Frazier and Lowrie shows up.
Did not root for Harper to be injured. That is in your head. I said the best part was when he got dinged by Matz. He was clearly not injured. Harper is currently underperforming for what he is being paid. He has been slumping. But keep your head in the sand.Keep making up stats about Harper snd then rooting for him to be injured. I'm happy with his OBP and superb hustle. You really are reaching here Thinking you know anything about me as a fan.Did not root for Harper to be injured. That is in your head. And 2 by McNeil.Wow. Just stop watching then. This game is why I cant ever expect the Mets to win anything in my lifetime. Matz and chances--how about the 4 errors (2 by Rosario) that cost those runs?
Its actually a great place to watch a game. Building is smaller than Citi and the field is below street level, which is cool and different. Food is also cheaper than Citi/Yankee StadiumI'll be at the game tomorrow in Philly. Forecast decent not great but my first trip to Citizens Bank Park. 1pm start. Go Phillies....but just happy to be at a weekday day game
All the tri state Stadiums are great. Don't care where my seat is. I watch an inning or two and move on. Love that abilityIts actually a great place to watch a game. I have to expand my horizons lol. I plan on going to DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh soon enough. All the tri state Stadiums are great. Don't care where my seat is. I watch an inning or two and move on. Love that ability
Camden Yards is still the best of the retro-designed ballparks. They hit a home run and many others tried to copy.I have to expand my horizons lol. I plan on going to DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh soon enough.
I disagree. Love it there but you can't walk around like Philly and the two NYC ballparks and never miss a pitch. Camden Yards still has the old school hallwaysCamden Yards is still the best of the retro-designed ballparks. They hit a home run and many others tried to copy.
Camden is a great balance of old and new. Yankee Stadium is magic since it's just a modern version of the old stadium. However, Citizens, Citi, and all of the other me-too parks are just meh.I disagree. Love it there but you can't walk around like Philly and the two NYC ballparks and never miss a pitch. 2. Citizens
3. Citi (similar to Citizens, but not as interesting)
