Tonight is a game where its obvious the team brought nothing to the park. Dont know if it happened or not but its the kind if scenario where after last nights game I would have liked to have seen some of the leaders say let's not be satisfied. Let's come up tomorrow like we lost the first two. We've got them a little down let's not let em off the deck. We want to step on their necks.

I think the lack of effort is directly related to the manager. Too often Calloway is happy to take 2 of 3 and move on.

Agree. And as a former player I know you know exactly what I mean.

Actually I think the Phillies pitchers might have started it the night before. But hey like I said I we dont like them and they dont like us so I'm cool with it.
Whatever. Mets killing them by a ton last night and try to hit him twice. As a said earlier pay back is a bitch

That's kind of the way it works in that game. You hit our big guy we go after yours. Hopefully the next time he wont miss him. Just a little lower. 9-0 was nice payback also.

3 more Ks for Harper tonight. Yeah, he got the lone RBI, but Harper overall hitting 0.125 and 8 Ks in 16 ABs against the Mets.

It seems increasingly clear that Harper can be pitched to by throwing him outside pitches and trying to surprise him now and again with an inside pitch. He'll get some hits and homers that way, but he simply has to adjust to leaving alone pitches that are outside and hitting to left field outside strikes. So far he does not look like a player who deserved a 300 million dollar plus contract.

Mets are now in first place in a division where no team seems that strong. The Mets have problems, but so do the other three possible contenders in the division. You Mets fans are too hard on your team -- try rooting instead of constantly finding fault. I watched the games last night and tonight, and the Mets hitters impress me. And both Matz and Wheeler were strong the last two nights.

I didn't think it was a good idea to throw a pitch over Rhys Hoskins' head with a nine-run lead, and two out and nobody on in the ninth. It could actually wake the Phillies up; they've looked lost on this road trip, losing 3 out of 4 to Colorado. Jake Arrieta and Gabe Kapler called them out after Monday night's game, but the Phillies didn't look good tonight. Of course, Zack Wheeler had something to do with that. He kept the ball down and boy was he throwing hard!

Well it looks like you nailed it with your second paragraph. Thanks Metsies!

We should all keep in mind that in baseball, a team can look great one night and then terrible the next night. Some of this has to do with adjustments, but I think more has to do with the law of averages. So let's not take too much from the two series between the Phillies and the Mets. This variation between games is part of what makes baseball, IMHO, more interesting to watch than most other sports.

It is amazing, how every time the Mets win, it is only Mets fans having a good rationale discussion. When they lose, all the Yankee fans and Philly trash come out with non-stop comments. It is almost as if we should have a separate thread for Mets bashers so they have someplace else to comment and leave this tread alone.

Thank you for calling me Philly trash. From you, it's a compliment.

I just watched the highlight- not a big deal especially given the circumstances. Move on.

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

What in the hell is going on with Rosario in the field? I have never seen a week like this for a fairly decent SS. I know he isn't a gold glover but he is not a hack out there either. Seems very strange.
And talking about fielding...I love going back to all the experts when they were talking about Rookie's prior to the season. Most saying that Alonso will need to be hidden and would be much better off in the AL as a DH.
He isn't KH but the kid has made every play and looks like a true 1B.

Didn't care about Hoskins going slow around the bases. He hit a HR off Jacob Rhame it's not an impressive feat the guy is awful. If Hoskins felt slighted whatever hope this dumb stuff is over.

You would think that those Yankee fans would be feeling great knowing that that team is in great shape since they have the young depth whenever the superstars go on the IL. But they come here and be the usual bastards that they are.

Personally, I thought the home run trot was funny. Hey... dont like that? STRIKE HIM OUT. However I find it convenient that everyone forgot about the NY hitters that Philly hit. So you knew it was coming sooner or later. Whether it continues or not, its a long season and its great when both sides are going for the division (hopefully).

D-bags gotta be d-bags,oh well. Mets didn't start the throwing at batters, a couple of Mets got hit the night before and could have been sidelined. If you heard the McNeil hit on TV, it sounded awlful. Throwing at Hoskins up 9-0 wasn't the time. Enjoy our thread Yankee fan, there's nothing happening in yours.Oh wait, yes, your winning ,lol.

The D-bags are the crybaby Mets fans complaining about Hoskins slow trot last night. They know jack about baseball. Why weren't they complaining about their stupid Mets pitchers going after Hoskins head in a 9-0 game!

The Phils are the ones going hard in on the Met players first. Rhames- he cant hit the side of the barn so to speak so don't think he was headhunting but I am sure he was throwing inside.
As long as no serious injuries- I don't care and it is how the game has been played when they were playing real baseball and I love it. The slow trot- not my style but love it. I want to see a hatred build up between these two teams. There was never a better time at Shea then when there was real hatred between the Cards and Met's as well as when the Braves were good and chants of "Larry" resounded. The best part of that, those teams played like they hated each other but also showed enough respect for it and how hard it was always fought that good ole "Larry" named his kid "Shea"
This is baseball and how it should be played. No helping the guy up from the other team.

Maybe because Phillies hit Alonso and McNeil earlier in the game? Who knows. Hopefully this is over but...

Phils ran when Realmuto got on down by a bunch when Alonso didn't hold him. That annoyed the Mets so Lagares ran in the bottom of the inning. That annoyed the Phils so they pitch well in to Conforto. That and the 5 Mets who have been hit in 5 games with the Phils to that point, maybe got the Mets thinking a message needed to be sent. Perhaps Rhame isn't good enough to send that message in the correct way.

Why do they have Frazier covering the bag at third??
He wasn't covering the bag at third per se, he was holding the runner. Teams are increasingly doing that in "infield in" situations where the runner on third may be running on contact.
