Can we agree on one thing?

Unless you lamented the departure of guys like Bruce and Broxton when they left (and I know you didn't, because nobody did) please refrain from doing so now.

I will concede that Kelenic and Dunn are fair game.

Plenty of us wanted the trade squashed (see the Hot Stove thread), so Bruce is fair game.

This is why since 2015 the Cubs have been the Cubs and the Mets have been the Mets:

Way to go jason Vargas.
Extend Vargas and punt Noah. Wheeler to be determined.

Never in a million years would any Mets fan have guessed that Vargas would be performing like the ace of the staff at any point in the season. Will not get too happy here, because we need more starts to see a trend. But he has looked good the last 2 or 3 starts.

We are all prisoners of the moment. We all had him in the urn.He is doing it with guile smarts and a thick skin that doesn't let the media, or the fans , beat him down.

Bruce another HR and a double - his expected ridiculoso the rest of the year should help push this over the top as the worst trade ever.

Don't care about Bruce...I think he was a good clubhouse guy and could provide some pop and decent OF but in no way should he have ever been the "main guy" in the lineup like the Met's had hoped he would. And his last year was a complete waste. He is what he is...going to bat under .250 and hit a lot of HR and get his RBI's...But he is gone and one way or another- we had to move him.
As others said, Turner is the guy the Met's f-ed up on. I can't even lament Murphy that much because before the playoffs, everyone wanted him gone and even after the playoffs, many still didn't think he was for real. Just an average middle Inf at best. Who knew???
anyone else find it so strange that Noah defends MC so much???

Unlike others on the staff, Vargas has definitely ignored every asshat (including me) and has simply went to work the last few weeks in becoming the (2nd) most dependable pitcher on the staff. Hope the Mets can take advantage of this if he continues to pitch like his Milwaukee days.

Meanwhile, the Mets are still underachieving being 4 under and 5.5 behind Philly after already blowing at least 10 games (SOS, YEAR AFTER YEAR). Rightly or wrongly that Cano/Diaz trade is going to hold the Mets back for the next 5 years while Cano goes to the IL every other week and Diaz chokes games that changes the season for the worse. Even if Kelenic and/or Dunn doesnt go on a future rookie/sophmore tear like Vlad Jr, Acuna, Albies, Soto, Alonso. Hopefully Diaz becomes the best young closer in baseball like we were told at the time of the trade. But so far, he has made Mets fans lament Kimbrel going to the Cubs.

Well see what happens in the next month. Hopefully not the SOS but i wont be surprised.

Wanted Murphy re-signed in a heartbeat - even before the Ruthian display in the playoffs. But after???

Watching him crush incessantly for the Nats was uncalled for - Bruce doing the same for the Phils will invoke somewhat similar pain but not as bad.

It looks like Mickey Moron is starting to let his starters go deeper into games. Vargas had a complete game last night and Wheeler has pitched 7 so far. Take the game out of the bullpen's hands. Now the offense has to be able to score more than 2 runs against the Giants.

Mickey is managing like he's going to be fired anyday now. I somewhat get it when you replaced Rosario with McNeil due to McNeil batting a 100 point higher, but Davis for Smith?

Lefty - righty percentage baseball. Managers have been making those moves as long as I remember.

And even though Smith is lefty he is hitting .200 points better against lefties than Davis! Any way another win and glad Familia looked dominant finally.

I understand what you are saying, but Mickey's recent moves are maddening. One day Mickey is talking about going with his gut feeling. The next day it's all about percentage. That doesn't come across as a man sure of himself.
