OT: 2019 Mets Season Thread

I would trade the entire (except for few) bullpen for a bag of rocks. They have gotten worse as the season progresses. They know Mickey doesn't have the heart to rip them a new one. Also, BVW is not in a position to trade for quality relievers and there's nothing down in the minors. There is no pressure on them to perform better.
Actually I watched the postgame on SNY after Friday's second loss and Mickey Mouse did come right out and say they need to get the job done.

What really sucks is that the two best chips we have to trade right now are two guys I want on my team for the next few years. Davis and Smith.
We almost have no choice and you know damn well we would only get guys that may help for a year but being the Met's they blow out their arms before even finishing this season. Meanwhile, Smith turns into a Freddie Freeman and Davis is hitting 30 HR's a year for some other team.

BTW- I swear to flaming FVK...thur/fri made me want to just stay away but that damn Alonso has me hooked. So, I turn it on today and game was in 3rd with a 6-1 lead. They chip away with a couple of runs and it is 6-3.
There was no doubt in my mind at that point that we would most likely lose. I did shut it off after we scored the extra couple of runs only to find out we almost blew it anyway.

The only reason we would trade those two guys now is if we decided we were all in on 2019, and went into serious buying mode. At this point, that would shock me. But who knows.

BVW and MC seem to be talking like we are in it. I really hope either the Phils or Braves go on a 10 game winning streak and just shut these two guys up.

Mets are not out of it, but they have to get their shit together with the bullpen and figure out a way going forward. Less worried about Diaz than about the middle relief. Gsellman and Familia have been terrible, and the only middle reliever who has been reliable is Lugo.

It took a great play by McNeil for Diaz not to blow ANOTHER save. Id put Lugo in as closer, Diaz as 8th inning guy and see what happens.

Cano activated and is in lineup. No word yet on corresponding roster move. EDIT: Just announced, Syndergaard to IL.

Well the friggin Braves are on a 9 or 10 game streak if they held on to beat Philly last night.

Lugo is the main setup man.

How do you fix a bullpen? I would say one word: volume. Bring in as many live arms as you can and hope some of them work out. That's what the Mets did when they were sellers in 2017. They brought in I think eight bullpen arms. Unfortunately none have worked out yet. Hopefully one or two still will.

Any reason they pulled our ace after 4?

*Edit - left calf cramp while hitting. DH please

Can we fire the “defensive” coach? Two more costly errors

When ramos came up i thought to myself Double play candidate. Double play and game over.

No. Atlanta is on a tear right now. They are crushing the Philthies.

That’s my point though. Good chance we get swept and I think they’ll have to make a change. The Mets are a bad team but Callaway is easily the worst manager they’ve had since at least Art Howe.

For the older fans when did the managers begin to give this many interviews? Pre game, post game, talk radio etc... It's too much.

Callaway oughta pitch because he sure can't manage. I'm done. Keep Alonzo, McNeil and deGrom since he's under contract. Get what you can for the rest and start over.

Right after pitchers forgot how to bunt, batters stopped trying to advance a runner on second with no one out, pitchers pitched out to stop base stealers, hitters shortened up after two strikes instead of swinging from their heels and everyone ran out ground balls. Different game. My guess is since managers do next to nothing to control the game anymore they needed something else to do.
